Roma coach Paulo Fonseca confirms Edin Dzeko will be “ready to play” against Inter as he calls it an “honour” to fill a role first offered to Antonio Conte.

Dzeko was considered a doubt for the big game through illness, but Fonseca confirmed his No 9 had turned up to training as normal.

“Dzeko has trained with us and is ready to play,” he said at a press conference.

“I need to say that I won’t discuss the team today as I will pick my starting XI tomorrow.

After being rested for the midweek fixture against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Europa League, Spinazzola limped off during the 2-0-loss to Parma on Sunday.

A muscle injury seems to be the issue, and he had to ask to be substituted after only 26 minutes at the Tardini.

According to Corriere dello Sport, he will be omitted from the Italy squad to face Bosnia-Herzegovina and Armenia in their final two Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Spinazzola out of Gladbach trip

Roma are without Leonardo Spinazzola for the Europa League trip to Borussia Monchengladbach, but have Amadou Diawara back.

These teams drew 1-1 in Rome in controversial fashion, decided by a ridiculous penalty awarded in stoppages.

Spinazzola has joined the injury list with a muscular problem, but Diawara returns to the squad following his meniscus strain last month.

Mert Cetin and Daniel Fuzato are not in the UEFA squad, but will travel to Germany anyway in order to stay with their teammates and prepare for Sunday’s match against Parma.
