Conte, Roma first choice

Roma is Coach Antonio Conte's first choice should he leave the Azzurri, say reports.

Speculation about the 56-year-old leaving the national team is ongoing, and it appears the Lupi could be first in line to snatch him up.

According to Il Messaggero, Conte's first choice would be Roma. Apparently, the Coach already has a strong relationship with Walter Sabatini, and President James Pallotta would welcome the player.

‘Serie A at a good level’

Italy CT Antonio Conte believes Serie A is ‘at a very good level’ but doesn’t foresee a surprise winner.

A topsy-turvy start to the season has seen Fiorentina top the standings for the first time since 1999,  with Milan, Juventus, Roma and Napoli all lacking in consistency.

“The League is proving to be at a very good level,” Conte told assembled media during a Press conference at Coverciano.

“I think that in the end the fight to win it will be between the usual teams, though Fiorentina can cause problems.

‘Balotelli wouldn’t have been called’

Italy CT Antonio Conte reveals Mario Balotelli wouldn’t have been called-up, even without his injury.

There was speculation the Milan striker would return to the Azzurri fold, before he picked up a muscular injury, but the national team boss says he was never in contention.

“There’s still a path to follow to get to the national team,” Conte explained in a Press conference at Coverciano.

“Two games are not enough to re-open the doors. I need certainty, and that goes for him and everyone else.

Oriali: ‘Not enough Italians’

Italy team manager Gabriele Oriali believes there are not enough Italians being given a chance in Serie A.

Antonio Conte’s latest Azzurri squad saw a number of players plying their trade abroad named, including Graziano Pelle of Southampton, Sebastian Giovinco of Toronto FC and Monaco’s Stephan El Shaarawy.

“The problem isn’t following players abroad, but finding those who play in Italian football,” Oriali explained to Radio Anch'io Sport.

No Azzurri for Balotelli?

Milan's Mario Balotelli's injury makes him unlikely to join Antonio Conte's Azzurri for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers.

The player was setting to rights his tarnished reputation with some solid performances for the Rossoneri, but is currently out of the squad due to muscle fatigue in the groin.

The Azzurri play away to Azerbaijan on October 10, and in Rome against Norway on October 13, but it seems Super Mario won't be among them.
