Pagliuca: 'Cragno would be ready to replace Handanovic'

Former goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca believes Cagliari’s Alessio Cragno would be ready to replace Samir Handanovic at Inter.

Reports have suggested Handanovic will be handed a new deal at San Siro and Pagliuca said he wouldn’t replace the Slovenia international just yet.

The former Nerazzurri ‘keeper did however suggest that Cragno would be ready to take the step up from the Rossoblu to Inter.

'Cagliari evaluate bids for key duo'

Cagliari patron Tommaso Giulini hopes to have the new stadium ready in 2023 and is willing to listen to offers for Joao Pedro and Alessio Cragno.

The Casteddu are playing in a temporary Sardegna Arena and the coronavirus pandemic has delayed the inauguration date of the new stadium.

“COVID-19 slowed everything down, but we immediately got back to work,” Giulini told Tuttosport. “We won’t be able to inaugurate it in 2022 as we hoped, but I hope to be able in three years.”

Cragno: 'Can tell Godin is a champion'

Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno says Diego Godin has already made an impression on his new teammates after ‘just one training session.’

Rafael to Roma?

Roma have reportedly scheduled a meeting with Cagliari today, to find an agreement with the Rossoblu goalkeeper Rafael.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that the Brazilian shot stopper could be on his way to the Giallorossi and claims a meeting with Cagliari has been set up to negotiate a transfer to the Olimpico.

Roma’s 22-year-old goalkeeper Daniel Fuzato could leave the club and TMW has revealed that his compatriot Rafael has been targeted as a direct replacement.

Maran: 'Cagliari turning the tide'

Rolando Maran confirmed Alessio Cragno is back in goal against Inter and he believes Cagliari have “started to turn the tide.”

Cragno out for four months

Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno had surgery on his right shoulder today and is expected to be out of action for four months.

The shot-stopper had been struggling since a nasty fall during a pre-season friendly and tried non-surgical treatment to resolve the issue.

However, he eventually required an operation to correct the instability in the right shoulder.

That was performed at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome today and the prognosis is circa four months.

Cagliari signed Robin Olsen on loan from Roma as a replacement.

Cragno to have shoulder op

Alessio Cragno is expected to be out for several months, as Cagliari confirmed the goalkeeper requires surgery.

The shot-stopper has been struggling since pre-season with a right shoulder injury after an awkward fall during a friendly in Istanbul.

It had become evident the problem was serious when the club signed Sweden international Robin Olsen on loan from Roma on transfer deadline day.

Now the Sardinians have announced Cragno will go under the knife in Rome’s Villa Stuart clinic on Saturday.

Olsen and Simeone for Cagliari

Cagliari continue to reinforce their squad, as Robin Olsen and Giovanni Simeone will fly in to sign for the Sardinians tomorrow.

According to multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia, they have agreed a dry loan for Roma goalkeeper Olsen.

He is called in as at least a temporary replacement for Alessio Cragno, who could be out for some time with a shoulder injury.

Cagliari had already out-bid Sampdoria for 24-year-old Fiorentina striker Simeone and he too is expected on Friday for a medical.

Cagliari draft in Sorrentino?

Cagliari could draft in veteran goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino if Alessio Cragno needs to go under the knife.

Cagliari confirmed in a recent medical report that Cragno needed more tests on his shoulder, amidst fears he would require surgery.

If that happens to be the case, Corriere dello Sport reports Cagliari will swoop in for Sorrentino.

The 40-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving relegated Chievo over the summer.

Cragno shoulder injury setback

Cagliari confirm goalkeeper Alessio Cragno’s shoulder injury is more serious than previously thought and requires more tests in 15-20 days.

The shot-stopper went off during the final minutes of a friendly against Fenerbahce and was initially diagnosed with bruising.

He had more tests today and visited the Villa Stuart clinic to see a specialist.

A statement from Cagliari warns the medics will get a clearer idea of the situation in 15-20 days, when there will be another consultation.
