Deulofeu wants Milan return?

Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu is reportedly holding out for a move back to Milan this month.

According to Corriere della Sera, Deulofeu remains in “constant contact” with his old teammates and has expressed to them a desire to play for Milan again.

However, the newspaper warns his €20m asking price is too much for the Rossoneri, while they face competition from Inter, Napoli and Roma.

Sassuolo block Politano to Napoli

Matteo Politano continues to beg Sassuolo for a move to Napoli, but the Neroverdi are not prepared to let him go, even for €20m.

Sky Sport Italia transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Politano and his entourage held a lengthy and at times fraught meeting with Sassuolo directors.

He is desperate to join the Serie A leaders, but so far the Mapei Stadium club remain firm in their refusal to release him.

Politano is seen as the next name on the list after Bologna winger Simone Verdi rejected a move to Napoli for a similar fee.

Napoli closer to Deulofeu deal

Barcelona are reportedly eager to be rid of Gerard Deulofeu and prepared to hand him over to Napoli on loan with €17m option to buy.

The winger impressed in a six-month loan spell at Milan last season, but has found playing time hard to come by at Camp Nou.

That situation will only get worse with the arrival of €140m purchase Philippe Coutinho, so Deulofeu is looking to the exit.

According to Mediaset Premium and Catalan source RAC1, Napoli have stepped up their interest over the last 24 hours, since Simone Verdi decided to stay at Bologna.

Was Verdi right to reject Napoli?

Simone Verdi was the primary January transfer target, but the Bologna starlet had to focus on his own development first, writes Vilizar Yakimov.

“I dоn’t want to leave Bologna this month. I preferred to stay here and continue with a growing project until June.” That was Simone Verdi’s confession shortly after increasing reports stated that he is almost certain to join league leaders Napoli before the end of January. The Milan youth product was highlighted as the Partenopei’s No. 1 target for the current transfer window, as Verdi’s name was listed ahead of the likes of another ex-Rossonero Gerard Deulofeu and Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Moura.

Napoli drop Deulofeu for Politano

Matteo Politano will reportedly push Sassuolo to join Napoli after they missed Simone Verdi and cooled their interest in Gerard Deulofeu.

The Partenopei were turned down by Bologna winger Verdi today, who refused to leave the Stadio Dall’Ara halfway through the season.

Lucas Moura of Paris Saint-Germain is another potential option, but considered too expensive even on loan due to his salary.

It would have to be a loan with option to buy, and Premium Sport believes Ausilio is in Catalonia today to finalise the deal.

However, he will also make overtures to Deulofeu, but the deal would again have to be a loan with option to buy.
