Atalanta not ready for Champions League

La Dea might’ve kept almost all their best players, but Vilizar Yakimov thinks Atalanta are unprepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

With great power comes great responsibility. Atalanta have been considered dark horses ever since Gian Piero Gasperini’s arrival in 2016, but their heroics from last season mean that La Dea quickly outgrew that tag and must accept their new status.

Fiorentina lose Montella

Fiorentina will be without Vincenzo Montella for their Serie A decider against Genoa after he was given a two-match ban.

The FIGC ruled on Tuesday that Montella addressed officials with a ‘threatening and intimidating’ attitude, using ‘insulting expressions’ three times and ‘violently punching an advertising board’ as he was sent off during Fiorentina’s 1-0 defeat to Parma on Sunday, which caused slight injury to a steward.

Unstoppable Atalanta right behind Milan

Atalanta took just 15 minutes to tear Bologna apart, including a Josip Ilicic brace, and this 4-1 win puts them within a point of fourth-placed Milan.

It also sends Bologna back into the relegation zone just a few days after their great escape.

However, it’s not all good news, because Duvan Zapata is suspended for Sunday’s showdown with Inter.

Report: Lazio want Hateboer

Lazio have reportedly enquired about Hans Hateboer, but Atalanta want to tie the right-back down to a new contract.

According to Calciomercato.com, there has been contact between Hateboer’s camp and Lazio, who ‘really like’ Atalanta’s ‘newest jewel’.

However, the website warns the Dea intend to not only keep the Dutchman until the end of the season but also extend his contract beyond 2020.

The 24-year-old joined the Orobici from Groningen in January 2017 and has already scored four goals this season.
