Marotta: 'Why Juve won't get Cassano'

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta explains why they didn't make an offer for Antonio Cassano. “We look at the professionalism of players.”

The Bianconeri had repeatedly been linked with Cassano, so when he was put on the transfer market following his row with Sampdoria, they were expected to be first in line.

Instead it looks as if he will join Scudetto rivals Milan, as Juve pulled out of the bidding war.

“We are covered in that role and our plans are different to those of Milan,” said Marotta.

Napoli centre-back Fabiano Santacroce is being monitored by Juventus with a view to a transfer in January, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

In the meantime, Juventus are looking to offload Amauri, possibly even offering the Italy international as a makeweight in talks for Santacroce.
