Juve are fighters, says Toni

Even though he has only been at the club for a week, Luca Toni claims there is an impressive fighting spirit within the Juventus dressing room.

The Turin giants are in something of a crisis after suffering heavy defeats back-to-back against Parma and Napoli.

Toni made his debut at the San Paolo and saw a debut goal ruled out, much to his disappointment.

"I scored," he said. "It would have changed the games. It was legitimate. I have watched the footage again on TV and the images confirm my feelings.

Report: Juve bid for Barzagli

Juventus are reportedly close to signing Italy and Wolfsburg defender Andrea Barzagli to strengthen their back line.

The former Palermo man has repeatedly been linked with a return to Serie A and could well make the move during the January transfer window.

His contract expires at the end of the season and he has apparently requested an early termination.

According to the latest media reports in Italy and Germany, Barzagli would join Juventus to strengthen the defence after leaking seven goals in two games.

The fall of the Old Lady

Following heavy defeats against Parma and Napoli, Juventus are in crisis. Serafino Ingardia looks to the past and future for some answers.

The euphoria around Juventus has vanished sooner than the most pessimistic Bianconeri fan would have thought. The Old Lady managed to spoil a promising beginning to the season in 180 minutes of play which resulted in a horrendous start to 2011. Two defeats, seven goals conceded and only one scored, Fabio Quagliarella out for four months and that is how the Bianconeri's worst nightmare quickly materialised.

Cavani dedicates hat-trick to his wife

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has dedicated the sensational hat-trick he scored against Juventus last night to his wife.

The 23-year-old Uruguay international singlehandedly destroyed Juventus with a trio of headers in a stunning 3-0 win.

Remarkably, it's Cavani's third hat-trick of the season, taking his tally to 24 goals in all competitions for club and country.

Asked to reveal why he put the ball under his shirt after the game, he said: "It was an affection gesture aimed at my wife who will make me a father in a few months' time.

Marotta: 'More signings could arrive'

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta admits that the club could make more signings in the January transfer window.

The Bianconeri made headlines last week by bringing in veteran striker Luca Toni from Genoa on a free transfer.

Injuries to a number of the club's players, notably Fabio Quagliarella, have made Juventus reassess their options.

Maxi Lopez back in Juventus' sights

Catania striker Maxi Lopez is once again being linked with a move to Juventus in the January transfer window.

The Old Lady is still in the market for a centre-forward despite signing Luca Toni from Genoa last week on a free transfer.

Juventus were at pains to stress that Toni wasn't signed as a replacement for Fabio Quagliarella who suffered a season-ending injury against Parma on Thursday.

Moggi: 'Juve need defenders'

Luciano Moggi can't understand why Juventus continue to be linked with strikers when they are so obviously in need of defenders.

The Bianconeri have conceded seven goals in their last two games in Serie A, something which hasn't happened since 1988.

Speaking to Gold TV, Moggi said: "The Juventus that I know cannot lose 4-1 to a team like Parma and then lose 3-0 to Napoli after only four days.

"I don't understand why you keep talking about reinforcements in attack. Above all, Juve need defenders.

Line-ups: Toni-Amauri in Naples

New Juventus buy Luca Toni starts alongside Amauri, dropping Alex Del Piero, while Napoli rely on their young trident.

Since Fabio Quagliarella's devastating knee injury ruled him out for six months, the Bianconeri brought in Toni from Genoa on Friday.

He is thrown straight into the starting XI, but his partner is surprisingly Amauri rather than captain Del Piero.

There are changes elsewhere too with Zdenek Grygera and Armand Traore stepping in for Fredrik Sorensen and Fabio Grosso.

Quagliarella has knee surgery

Fabio Quagliarella has gone under the knife and Juventus confirmed he won't be back for five to six months.

There were reports the player would be able to make a quick recovery, but the surgical procedure showed the extent of the injury.

Quagliarella had an operation at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The player “will stay in the clinic for three to four days, then return to Turin to begin the rehabilitation programme.

Del Neri: 'We're on the right track'

Gigi Del Neri insists Juventus are “on the right track” and explains they signed Luca Toni because “we don't have Manchester City's money.”

The Bianconeri fell to a second consecutive heavy defeat, falling 3-0 against Napoli and an Edinson Cavani hat-trick.

“We are working on a long-term project,” assured the Coach. “Of course these defeats are painful, but they also help you to learn. We must work on analysing the games carefully.
