Ronaldo’s transfer to Juve has been described as the biggest made by a Serie A club in years, given his status as arguably the best player in the world.

His arrival has been compared in significance to Napoli’s purchase of Maradona in 1984, but Hamsik made it clear the Argentine could not be surpassed.

Juventus astounded the world of football when they made a move for five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

If you have the chance to sign one of the best players the game of football has ever seen, you drop all reservations and do it, right?

Croatia dominated the World Cup Final for long periods, with Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic on target, but France won the trophy 4-2.

This was the first ever Final for Croatia, while Les Bleus hadn’t been here since losing to Italy in 2006 and star striker Kylian Mbappé was born the same year as their last victory in 1998.

Perisic shook off a thigh injury to start with Inter teammate Marcelo Brozovic, Juve’s Mandzukic and Milan full-back Ivan Strinic. Blaise Matuidi of Juve again played in a more advanced role.
