'Boca after Palacio'

Boca Juniors director Ivan Reggiani confirms that Boca Juniors 'will certainly try signing Inter's Rodrigo Palacio'.

The transfer market consultant for the Argentinian club revealed that the player could join them, not least because his contract is due to expire in summer of 2016.

“Boca will certainly try bringing Palacio to the Bombonera, I think this is beyond doubt,” he told FcInterNews.it.

Kondogbia makes Inter debut

Geoffrey Kondogbia and Martin Montoya made their Inter debuts in a 4-3 victory over Stuttgart Kickers.

The Nerazzurri had their first outing of the campaign and it was very much a game of two halves.

The first 45 minutes were absolutely dominated by Roberto Mancini’s men, who were 4-0 up at the break.

Rodrigo Palacio opened the scoring within three minutes, bursting through the centre to drill past the goalkeeper, then doubled his tally by running on to a Mauro Icardi assist.

Mirante in and Palacio stays?

Inter are believed to have targeted Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante and are understood to be keen on keeping Rodrigo Palacio at the club.

La Gazetta dello Sport reports that a move for Mirante is likely to go ahead after the club had a disagreement with Juan Pablo Carrizo on his contract renewal.

The current Nerazzurri number two’s contract is due to expire and although it had initially seemed he would extend for a year, Carrizo now appears likely to move back to Argentina.

Palacio understands fan anger

Inter’s Rodrigo Palacio says he understands anger from fans, and says they must fight for the Scudetto next season.

The Nerazzurri are currently in 10th place in Serie A, and it looks unlikely that the club will even qualify for the Europa League, and the Argentinian understands the frustration from the stands.

However, the attacker echoed the words of Coach Roberto Mancini who believes the Beneamata can fight for the title next season.

Season over for Inter and Mancini

Out of the Europa League and eight points off European places, for Roberto Mancini and Inter it is effectively the end of their season, writes Varun Mathure.

As the draw for the Champions League Quarter-Finals threw up a potentially easy tie for rivals Juventus against Monaco, Inter were left to rue the loss of their final chance to feature in Europe’s premier club competition in 2015-16.

The task of overturning a 3-1 deficit against Wolfsburg at home, came unstuck fairly early at San Siro on Thursday night when Daniel Caligiuri squeezed the ball under Juan Pablo Carrizo to give the Germans the lead in the 24th minute. To rub salt into the wounds, a goal from Nicklas Bendtner of all people saw the Nerazzurri defeated 2-1.

Palacio: 'A strange game'

Rodrigo Palacio said it was “a strange game” after Inter drew 3-3 with Celtic, but “still a good result.”

La Trenza scored twice in this chaotic Europa League encounter, but the Nerazzurri continually fumbled their advantage.

“It was a strange game,” Palacio told Mediaset Premium. “We started well and scored two early goals, then took out foot off the accelerator. That allowed Celtic to regain confidence and they equalised.

Palacio surgery postponed

Fears that Inter's Rodrigo Palacio would have to undergo surgery have been temporarily allayed in favour of continued conservative therapy.

The Argentine faced a consultation in Amsterdam today over his recurring ankle trouble, which has been plaguing the 32-year-old since the World Cup in Brazil.

The verdict from the meeting overseen by Inter doctor Piero Volpi, however, is that the player should receive conservative therapy on the issue, rather than undergo a clean-up operation at this time.
