Gattuso: 'Kessie better than I was'

Gennaro Gattuso forgave Gianluigi Donnarumma and assured Franck Kessie is “far better than I ever was” after Milan beat Cagliari 2-1.

The Rossoneri had gone behind after just eight minutes when a seemingly harmless Nicolò Barella curler surprised Donnarumma.

“There was an error on the goal, but when it was still 1-0 he kept us in the game with a miracle, so these things even themselves out,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

More Milan lows than highs

Evaluating Milan's season so far, it's easier to pick out the lowlights than the few high points, writes Richard Hall, but Patrick Cutrone was a beacon of hope.

Milan would have welcomed the winter break more than most, after promise turned into disappointment almost from day one. In the early summer, 60,000 turned up to watch the new and most thought improved Milan squad qualify for the Europa League via two preliminary rounds. The enthusiasm would start to drain as results worsened and the players failed to perform. Now on their second Coach of the season, they will be hoping for a better 2018.

Swansea in for Andre Silva?

Premier League strugglers Swansea City are the latest club to be linked with Milan striker Andre Silva.

Tuttomercatoweb cites reports in the Welsh Press that speak of Swansea’s “strong interest” in Silva.

The Swans are managed by Carlos Carvalhal, who is a compatriot of the former Porto attacker, and the website explains their search for a new No 9 has taken them to the 22-year-old.

Silva only joined Milan last summer in a €38m deal but has failed to score in 12 Serie A appearances.

Report: Everton want Andre Silva

Everton are reportedly showing an interest in Milan striker Andre Silva, who could leave if an offer of €40m comes in.

However, the Rossoneri would not let the Portuguese leave unless they received €40m – €2m more than what they paid Porto last summer.

Milan reasons for optimism

The Rossoneri haven’t started the season as they’d have hoped, but Luca LaPorta sees reason for optimism heading into 2018.

After a tough last few months, and a coaching change that saw Vincenzo Montella fired and replaced by Primavera coach and Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso, the Rossoneri end off a tough and disappointing 2017 on a somewhat positive note, clawing back a point away to Fiorentina.
