Galliani: 'Football must resume'

Adriano Galliani has claimed ‘football will explode’ if it doesn’t return to the pitch and suggested the different European Leagues ‘need not end at the same time’.

The former Milan CEO has begged football to wait until due time and return to the pitch ‘in safe conditions’ after the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Monza chairman stressed that the European Leagues will all have different timelines and claimed it was futile to insist on ending the championships at the same time.

Galliani: 'Monza must go up'

Adriano Galliani has warned that Monza must be promoted to Serie B, otherwise “football risks blowing up” if the season is scrapped.

Monza were running away with the Serie C Group A title before coronavirus halted the campaign, and there is the possibility of all Italian leagues being abandoned.

“I didn’t expect the coronavirus outbreak, but I hope Monza, 16 points clear of second place with 11 games left, can still go up to Serie B,” Galliani told Tutti Convocati.

Milan a dysfunctional family

Zvonimir Boban's sacking is just the tip of the iceberg, as Vijay Rahaman looks into the utter chaos that is the current Milan management.

AC Milan has always prided itself on being a "family club", but right now this legendary sporting institution is tearing itself apart, taking valuable attention away from on-field issues that still need fixing.

Galliani: 'Ibra wanted Milan stay'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic “certainly did not want to leave Milan” in 2012 and Adriano Galliani also reveals he was close to partnering the Swede with Carlos Tevez.

The former LA Galaxy star agreed a return to San Siro on Friday, pending a medical on January 2, with a six-month deal plus option to extend for another season.

Galliani: 'Zlatan pins you to the wall'

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani says new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t suffer fools. "In 31 years at Milan I have never seen a player pin another to the wall because he wasn’t trying hard enough."

Ibra officially returned to the Rossoneri yesterday after over seven years away from the club, and Galliani believes it’s a great signing by his old side.

Galliani: 'Monza made Ibrahimovic offer'

Adriano Galliani confirms an approach was made for Silvio Berlusconi’s Serie C side Monza to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic. “I proposed a two-and-a-half-year contract.”

It had been assumed Berlusconi was joking when he said “I hope he comes to Monza” rather than return to their old club Milan.

Instead, the former Rossoneri CEO and current chief at Monza reveals it was all true.

Ancelotti too nice for Napoli

Maybe Carlo Ancelotti was always too nice to make his mark at Napoli, as Susy Campanale feels his style of ‘soft power’ no longer works.

Carlo Ancelotti is the gentleman of football management, the cuddly figure nobody can hate and everyone would like to share a glass of wine with – and not just because you know he has the best choice of vino on the planet. He was the master of ‘soft power,’ the ability to navigate strong personalities and seemingly appease them while at the same time making his own decisions. However, in recent years, Carletto appears to have lost the power part and just gone soft.

Galliani: 'Wanted Conte & Sarri'

Adriano Galliani reveals he wanted Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri at Milan, “I’d have tried” for Mauro Icardi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still a “phenomenon”.

With Milan struggling in the bottom half of Serie A this season, Galliani recognised Conte’s work at rivals Inter and agreed they were in a two-horse race with Juventus for the Scudetto.

“After 31 years at Milan, I do not speak of Inter,” he told Tiki Taka on Canale 5.

Galliani: 'Zlatan return romantic'

Adriano Galliani claims Zlatan Ibrahimovic returning to Milan would be a "romantic" move, "similar to when Cristiano Ronaldo came to Italy."

The Swede has been linked with a return to the club ever since he left in 2012, with rumours now intensifying as he will be a free agent at the end of December.

Speaking to Rai Sport, Galliani - who signed the striker for Milan in 2010 - confessed he would love to see him back at San Siro.

Galliani: Commisso close to Milan

Former Milan chief Adriano Galliani claims Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso was once “on the verge” of buying the Rossoneri from Yonghong Li.

Commisso was heavily linked with a takeover before Elliott Management repossessed Milan during the summer of 2018, and the Italo-American tycoon has since pitched up at Fiorentina.

“Fiorentina are doing very well now,” Galliani told Calciomercato.com.

“Commisso was on the verge of buying Milan. I don’t understand why Yonghong Li didn’t sell Milan to him.
