Galliani: ‘Donnarumma will stay’

Adriano Galliani is “convinced” that Gianluigi Donnarumma “will be a Milan player for many years.”

The 17-year-old goalkeeper is a rising star of Italian football, pulling off a match-winning save against Juventus on Saturday to further bolster his reputation.

“I think he’ll be the heir to [Gigi] Buffon in the national team, though Buffon is still a great goalkeeper,” Rossoneri CEO Galliani told Tiki Taka.

“I hope and I’m convinced that he’ll be a Milan player for many years to come.

‘Milan confident over Donnarumma’

Adriano Galliani “trusts that Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract will be extended” by Milan, “as soon as he becomes an adult”.

Donnarumma does not turn 18 until next February, meaning he is currently unable to sign a professional contract with Milan or any other club and that his present deal is due to expire in 2018, but Galliani has vowed to waste no time in tying the teenager down early next year. 

“Donnarumma is a minor and has a contract until 2018,” the Vice-President told Gazzetta dello Sport.
