Galliani: ‘With VAR on Muntari…’

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani believes “the history of Italian football could have changed” if VAR had been in place in the 2011-12 season.

In February 2012 the Rossoneri were leading 1-0 against Antonio Conte’s side at San Siro, when Gigi Buffon made a stunning save from a Philippe Mezes header.

Sulley Muntari pounced on the rebound, and while the Bianconeri goalkeeper pushed it back out, it had clearly crossed the line.

Galliani: 'Milan wanted Sarri and Giampaolo'

Adriano Galliani admits he tried to bring Maurizio Sarri and Marco Giampaolo to Milan. “I did court them.”

The former Rossoneri CEO is now reunited with President Silvio Berlusconi at Serie C club Monza.

Just before Sarri took over at Napoli, he had been in negotiations with Milan, but is now setting Premier League records at Chelsea.

“I think Sarri is a phenomenal Coach. An absolute phenomenon,” Galliani told Radio CRC.

‘Ibra would raise Serie A level’

Former CEO Adriano Galliani believes Milan should bring back Zlatan Ibrahimovic - “every star of that level that comes to Italy raises the value of the league”.

It was reported earlier today that the LA Galaxy striker has agreed a six month contract to return to the Rossoneri, having left for Paris Saint-Germain in 2012.

Montolivo heading to Monza?

Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo is reportedly considering a move to Silvio Berlusconi’s new club Monza in Serie C.

He was the captain of the Rossoneri not so long ago, but the 33-year-old has been frozen out by Coach Gennaro Gattuso.

The 33-year-old was on the market this summer, but refused to leave, as his wife is expecting a baby.

As a result, Montolivo was dumped to the outskirts of the squad and in a midweek friendly during international duty was even made to play with the Primavera youth team rather than the remaining senior players.

Antonio Cassano has retired from football – again – but had time for another typically no-filter interview. “All the players suck nowadays.”

The 36-year-old had only joined Virtus Entella for training a week ago and was yet to sign a contract, but this morning released a statement confirming he had decided to call it a day.

Cassano: Why I rejected Monza…

Antonio Cassano claims he rejected an offer from Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza because Virtus Entella are the only lower-League team he would join.

Cassano has not played a competitive game for over two years and remains a free agent, despite the efforts of Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani to reunite with the former Milan attacker at the Serie C club.

“It’s always an honour when two people of their stature think of you,” he told Il Secolo XIX.

Galliani ‘was loaned to Milan’

Adriano Galliani insists his move to Monza is not a betrayal as ‘I started there and was loaned to Milan for 31 years’.

Galliani was Milan’s CEO between 1986 and 2017 and left when Silvio Berlusconi sold up, but the 74-year-old was born in Monza and was a shareholder in the Serie C club before he joined forces with the media tycoon.

“For me it’s a joyous day,” he told reporters on the same day that Berlusconi’s takeover went through.
