While Thiago Motta is linked with numerous clubs, including Juventus, Milan, PSG and Barcelona, it’s reported he will stay at Bologna if they qualify for the Champions League.

The tactician has achieved an extraordinary amount at the Stadio Dall’Ara, as the team is currently sitting fourth in Serie A.

His contract is due to expire on June 30 and he continues to bat away all questions over his future, insisting there is plenty of time before he has to make a decision.

Juventus are believed to have put him top of their wish-list to replace Max Allegri next season, while Milan, Napoli and more are also interested.

However, Footmercato maintain there is still a chance of Thiago Motta extending his stay on the Bologna bench.

He would be willing to remain for one more year if they qualified for the Champions League.

If Italy are on track to get five slots in the new and expanded format of the competition, then Bologna are in a very strong position.

The Rossoblu are fourth with 54 points, followed by Roma on 51, then Atalanta (with a game in hand) 47 and Napoli 45.

  1. If Bologna qualify for the CL, of course he should stay another year. Why would you miss that – it would be a great test of his ability as a manager.
