Sassuolo deny Juve synergy

Sassuolo have denied that a blatant synergy exists between them and Juventus, accusing the Press of spin.

Sassuolo have done plenty of business with Juve since their promotion to Serie A in 2014, and it was speculated there was already an agreement in place for Merih Demiral to join the Old Lady in January.

The same appears to be the case with Hamed Traore, but sporting director Giovanni Rossi was quick to stress how little had been made of his club’s dealings with Inter and Roma.

Cagliari sack sporting director

Cagliari have officially sacked sporting director Giovanni Rossi with immediate effect.

Rossi only joined Cagliari last summer, on the back of helping establish Sassuolo in Serie A.

Despite orchestrating lucrative deals for the likes of Luca Cigarini, Leonardo Pavoletti and Leandro Castan, the Sardinians have endured another season of struggle, finding themselves down in 16th, just two points clear of the relegation places.

Cagliari reject Cassano advances

Cagliari sporting director Giovanni Rossi admits that while Antonio Cassano “is a champion”, “up top we’re all set.”

Cassano openly stated he would join Cagliari “in a heartbeat” earlier on Wednesday, but unfortunately for the ex-Milan, Inter and Italy attacker, the Sardinians do not feel the same way.

“Cassano? He’s a champion, but up top we’re all set," Rossi told La Nuova Sardegna.

Rossi new Cagliari director of sport

Cagliari have officially appointed Giovanni Rossi, formerly of Sassuolo, as their new director of sport.

The 51-year-old comes in after helping to take Sassuolo from Serie C2 to the top flight and Europa League football.

Rossi replaces Stefano Capozucca, who left Cagliari this summer.

The Sardinians earned promotion last season and stayed comfortably mid-table throughout the current campaign.
