Giaccherini: ‘I need to play’

Napoli’s Emanuele Giaccherini believes Chievo will be a difficult opponent and wants to play more regularly.

The 31-year-old suffered a minor muscle injury at the start of the season but has been unable to claim a place in Maurizio Sarri’s starting 11 since returning to fitness.

“We need to put the problems against Genoa behind us,” Giaccherini told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli when asked about the Partenopei’s goalless draw in midweek.

The agent of Emanuele Giaccherini has revealed the Napoli man will be out for ‘around 10 days.’

It was reported on Friday morning that the attacking midfielder had suffered a minor injury, claims that were confirmed by Furio Valcareggi.

“We will have to wait about another 10 days for his recovery,” the representative told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“If it goes well, let’s hope he manages to get back for the Milan game so that he can also get an international call up.”

Today tests confirmed a Grade I lesion to the adductor muscle in the right thigh.

Giaccherini will be out of action for approximately three weeks.

The 30-year-old has so far made two Serie A appearances for Bologna, for a grand total of 58 minutes.
