Atalanta not ready for Champions League

La Dea might’ve kept almost all their best players, but Vilizar Yakimov thinks Atalanta are unprepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

With great power comes great responsibility. Atalanta have been considered dark horses ever since Gian Piero Gasperini’s arrival in 2016, but their heroics from last season mean that La Dea quickly outgrew that tag and must accept their new status.

Castagne close to Crystal Palace

Atalanta wing-back Timothy Castagne is in advanced negotiations for a €20m move to Crystal Palace, according to Sportitalia.

The Orobici had not wanted to part with the Belgian, but if the bid is improved with bonuses to reach €25m, then a deal can be done.

Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà maintains talks are progressing well and there could be a breakthrough next week.

Castagne is a 23-year-old right-back who plays in a wide midfield role as part of Atalanta’s 3-4-1-2 system.
