Newcastle, Leipzig tussle for Lazaro

Inter and Newcastle are close to finalising a deal for Valentino Lazaro, according to a report in Italy. However, German side RB Leipzig haven't given up on the player.

Lazaro has found it difficult to break into Antonio Conte’s starting XI this season, and has been reduced primarily to substitute appearances for the Nerazzurri.

The Austrian only signed for Inter last summer, but it seems his time in Serie A is coming to an end.

Tuttomercatoweb.com report that Newcastle are close to striking a deal with Inter for Lazaro.

Inter invite Lazaro offers

Inter are hoping to cash in on Valentino Lazaro for €21m, with Newcastle United, West Ham, RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen interested.

The 23-year-old Austria international had been purchased from Hertha Berlin in July for €22.5m, but has failed to make any impact on the team.

He contributed two assists in 11 competitive appearances, almost all of them as a substitute, as Antonio Conte does not see the left-sided wing-back as part of his plans.

Bringing balance to Napoli

Diego Demme and Stanislav Lobotka should bring much-needed balance to the Napoli midfield, explains Vilizar Yakimov.

If someone says that they know what’s been going on at Napoli during the last couple of months, you’d probably be smart not to trust them. The way some of the players switched off was truly astonishing and whether this was because of Aurelio De Laurentiis’ ritiro attempt or something else, it matters little now.

The President tried to pick up the pieces by replacing the surprisingly neutral Carlo Ancelotti with Gennaro Gattuso, but even the hot-headed 2006 World Cup winner hasn’t managed to get into his players’ heads yet.

Lobotka had his medical over the weekend, but a formal announcement has not arrived yet, as they continue to whittle down the details of the contract and image rights.

Official: Demme joins Napoli

Napoli have officially signed Diego Demme from RB Leipzig in a deal worth a reported €13m.

The 28-year-old midfielder had his medical on Friday and put pen to paper on the contract in Rome today.

It was confirmed by a tweet from President Aurelio De Laurentiis: “Welcome Diego!”

Demme was enthusiastic about the idea of this move, because although he was born and raised in Germany, his father is Italian and a passionate Napoli supporter.

In fact, Demme was named Diego after Napoli legend Diego Armando Maradona.
