Olmo: 'Why I chose RB Leipzig'

Dani Olmo explains why he turned down Milan and Lazio to join RB Leipzig in January. ‘I thought it was the best decision for my career.’

The 22-year-old made the transfer for €19m from Dinamo Zagreb and signed a contract to June 2024.

“It’s true that a few Italian clubs were interested, but I cannot add much more than that,” Olmo told Spanish newspaper AS.

Sousa or Rangnick for Milan bench?

Bordeaux boss Paulo Sousa has been mentioned as the alternative coach for Milan if Ralf Rangnick turns them down.

Negotiations continue with the former RB Leipzig tactician, who is currently working as a strategy co-ordinator for the various Red Bull franchises.

If Rangnick does not manage to agree personal terms or a joint project, then it looks as if Stefano Pioli still won’t keep his place.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the alternative option for the Rossoneri is current Girondins de Bordeaux boss Sousa.

RB Leipzig: 'No Werner deal yet'

Inter and Juventus transfer target Timo Werner is not yet a Chelsea player, assures RB Leipzig director Oliver Mintzlaff. ‘He has not activated the clause and we haven’t had any contact.’

The forward has a release clause worth €60m, which favourites Liverpool were unwilling to pay, allowing Chelsea to step in over the last few days.

Multiple reports stated the deal was done, but RB Leipzig director Mintzlaff told Sky Sports Deutschland that was premature.

Schick: 'I want to stay at Leipzig'

While RB Leipzig suggest Roma must lower the agreed purchase option, Patrik Schick insists he ‘would love to stay, as this club and city are perfect for me.’

The striker moved on loan for €3.5m with an option to buy for a further €29m, but coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed this week that they “have a strict budget, so don’t think we can sign Schick.”

They will try to negotiate the cost down, but the Czech Republic international has no doubts about his intentions.

Bild: Werner set for Chelsea

German newspaper Bild claims that Chelsea are on the verge of signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, beating Inter, Juventus and Liverpool.

The 24-year-old striker has a €60m release clause in his contract, so it’s a matter of who is willing to offer the best personal terms and sporting project.

Liverpool had been the favourites for weeks, but are seemingly unwilling to pay the full release clause.

Report: Leipzig pushing for Schick discount

RB Leipzig are reportedly asking for a discounted price for Patrik Schick and Roma might be forced to to accept an offer of €20m for the wantaway Czech.

Last summer the 24-year-old moved on loan to the Red Bull Arena with the two parties agreeing on a €3.5m loan and an option to buy for €29m, taking the total number to €32.5m.

Schick has scored nine goals in 18 Bundesliga matches this term and has convinced the Germans to work on a possible discounted deal due to the financial difficulties caused by the global pandemic.

Nagelsmann: 'Won't purchase Schick'

Roma are on edge after RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann confessed they ‘probably won’t purchase’ Patrik Schick at the end of his loan spell.

The striker made the move at a cost of €3.5m with option to buy for a further €29m.

Although he scored nine goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances, it seems as if the Czech international hasn’t entirely won the club over.

“I think we’ll manage to get into the top four this season and gain Champions League qualification,” Nagelsmann told Bild.
