'Torino very close to Zaniolo'

Former Torino sporting director Massimo Bava has revealed that the club was ‘very close’ to signing Nicolo Zaniolo back in 2016.

Zaniolo was only 17 at the time of his move to Virtus Entella, having just been released by Fiorentina, and the attacking midfielder has gone on to star for Roma and Italy.

However, Bava claims he could have been bound for Toro and not Entella, explaining what had put him off from adding the 20-year-old to the club’s youth academy.

Mancini: 'Zaniolo must find his role'

Italy CT Roberto Mancini has claimed Roma starlet Nicolò Zaniolo ‘must find his role’ but insisted he has what it takes to ‘become an extraordinary player’.

The youngster is recovering from an ACL injury, initially racing against the clock to get into Mancini’s Italy squad for Euro 2020.

With the championship postponed until next summer, Mancini can have the 20-year-old back at his disposal with additional experience from another Serie A season.

Roma forced to sell Zaniolo and Pellegrini?

Roma could be forced to sell this summer, as Liverpool look at Nicolò Zaniolo, while Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Zaniolo 'can help Kean at Roma'

Nicolò Zaniolo’s father assures a move to Roma would be good for Everton outcast Moise Kean. ‘Nicolò learned from his mistakes and could help Moise grow too.’

The Giallorossi are the favourites to sign Kean next season, in part because of the strong friendship he has with Zaniolo.

It got them into trouble during the European Under-21 Championship, as the room-mates were dropped from a big game for repeatedly turning up late to team meetings.

Make or break for Moise

After Moise Kean foolishly threw a coronavirus lockdown party, Livio Caferoglu is worried Italy could be losing another promising talent.

How Graeme Souness must be feeling. The former Torino midfielder, in his role as a pundit for Sky Sports, had already passed judgment for Moise Kean just four goalless games into his Everton career with a scathing critique of the striker’s character. His argument was why Juventus had opted to cash in on a player supposedly with the world at his feet.
