Roma consider Benatia return

Roma are considering a surprise re-signing of Mehdi Benatia from Bayern Munich in the winter, say reports.

The Moroccan signed for the Bundesliga team a year ago for €28m and left on very bad terms, as both the player and the club accused each other of false statements and misbehaviour.

And yet the defender could still return to the capital, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Apparently Benatia was already in touch with Roma during the summer, and is open to the idea of coming back under Rudi Garcia.

Rummenigge: ‘Gotze, Benatia will stay’

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ‘a feeling’ Juventus target Mario Gotze will stay.

The Bianconeri have been linked with the German international, as well as teammate Mehdi Benatia, and the director discussed both at the Audi Cup.

“Benatia has a four-year contract with Bayern,” Rummenigge reminded Sky.

“We signed him for his quality, we saw last night [in the 3-0 win over Milan] that he’s a great player.

Juventus open Nastasic talks?

Reports say that Juventus will open talks with the agent of Schalke 04 defender Matija Nastasic today.

Tuttosport believe that the 22-year-old wants to leave Germany and has encouraged his agent Fali Ramadani to bring him back to Italy, where he played with Fiorentina in 2011-12.

The newspaper believes Ramadani will today speak with the Bianconeri about a possible move, although he could be expensive as the German side only activated his €13m transfer clause from Manchester City in March.

Benatia 'honoured' by Juve interest

Mehdi Benatia is “honoured by interest from Juventus and Real Madrid. If Bayern Munich can’t promise consistency, I could leave.”

The former Roma defender has only been in Germany for a year, as Bayern paid €28m for him.

A year before that, the Giallorossi had bought him from Udinese for €13.5m, so the Morocco international’s transfer value has sky-rocketed.

“I am honoured by interest from Juventus and Real Madrid,” Benatia told Tuttosport.

Inter told to forget Benatia

Inter have reportedly been told in no uncertain terms to forget about signing Medhi Benatia from Bayern Munich.

The Nerazzurri confirmed their interest in the former Roma defender and were in negotiations with Bayern representatives over the weekend.

However, Sky Sport Italia claim the German club slammed the door shut on any approach for Benatia.
