Winter Champions Napoli lack strength in depth, so Dan White analyses potential January signings that can improve Maurizio Sarri's side.

Napoli may be sat at the top of Serie A, leading the teams fighting for the Scudetto but, at the season’s halfway point, Coach Maurizio Sarri will be looking to bolster his squad in January if his team are to keep up their title push in the second half of the season.

Fiorentina ask for Giaccherini

Fiorentina have asked Napoli for the availability of Emanuele Giaccherini ahead of the transfer deadline on Thursday.

According to Sportitalia, Stefano Pioli’s Viola approached them to set up a possible move.

The 32-year-old winger is under contract until June 2019 and only arrived from Sunderland a year ago for €1.5m.

He made just 20 competitive appearances for the club, scoring two goals.

Napoli strike Zinchenko deal

Napoli have reportedly agreed terms with Manchester City for Oleksandr Zinchenko at €6.5m (£5.9m).

According to Studio Sport, the Partenopei have a deal in place to take the creative figure on loan for €0.5m with option to buy at the end of the season for a further €6m.

Despite being only 20 years old, Zinchenko already has 10 senior caps for Ukraine, in which he scored one goal.

He just returned to City after a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, providing 13 assists in 19 league appearances.

Zinchenko set for Napoli

It’s reported Manchester City midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko will join Napoli on loan with an option to buy.

The 20-year-old joined the English side last summer, but was loaned out to PSV for the season.

The Partenopei have been increasingly linked with the Ukrainian international in recent days, and ESPN UK is now reporting that a deal has been agreed.

Napoli continue Zinchenko talks

Napoli want Oleksandr Zinchenko on loan with option to buy for €10m, but Manchester City seek options on Kalidou Koulibaly and Piotr Zielinski.

The 20-year-old Ukraine international is seen as the ideal replacement for Emanuele Giaccherini, who is heading towards Sparta Prague.

According to Sportitalia, he is certainly available after a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, but the terms of the deal are being discussed.

Napoli would prefer it to be a loan with option to buy, whereas Manchester City are eager to ensure that option becomes mandatory.

Napoli target Man City's Zinchenko

Napoli have approached Manchester City for Ukraine international Oleksandr Zinchenko, fresh from a PSV Eindhoven spell.

The 20-year-old can play in a variety of roles, behind the strikers, on the right or the left wing.

According to Sportitalia, Zinchenko is the target should Emanuele Giaccherini complete his transfer to Sparta Prague.

Despite his tender age, he already has 10 senior Ukraine caps and one goal under his belt.

Manchester City paid €2m to sign him from FK Ufa a year ago and loaned him out to PSV Eindhoven.
