Marseille to keep Deschamps

Roma target Didier Deschamps will remain as boss of Marseille, the French club have insisted.

Deschamps has been spoken to by Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabatini about the Stadio Olimpico job.

But Jean-Claude Dassier, the President of Marseille, seems pretty sure that the former Juve midfielder and boss is going nowhere.

"He plays around with reporters, but for me there is no shadow of a doubt, he will be the Coach of Olympique de Marseille next season," he told the club's website.

Heinze swoop on Juve menu

After Gabriel Heinze announced he was leaving Olympique Marseille, Juventus have been linked with the veteran defender.

“There isn't just one reason why I decided to go, but I think this is the right choice and I did the club a favour by walking away,” said the 33-year-old former Manchester United man.

“I had extraordinary moments here, but this adventure is over.”

Juventus have immediately been linked with a swoop for Heinze, who had already been of interest in previous years.

Deschamps confirms Roma talks

Didier Deschamps has confirmed he is in talks with Roma, “but I have not made any commitments yet. It's not a question of money.”

The Olympique Marseille Coach is one of the hot favourites to take over when American investor Thomas Di Benedetto becomes the new President.

“I am considering my future,” said the former Juventus boss. “It's not a question of money, as that is not a decisive element for me. What counts is the sporting project.

Gilardino on Marseille wish-list

Alberto Gilardino is considering his future at Fiorentina and it's suggested he could join Olympique Marseille.

The hitman is one of several players likely to leave Florence this summer after their failure to qualify for Europe.

French newspaper L'Equipe has made several leaps of logic by suggesting Didier Deschamps will be at the helm of Marseille next season.

The report also claims the former Juventus Coach is already working out a transfer strategy with Gilardino at the top of the wish-list.

Flamini backs Taiwo signing

Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini would welcome Marseille full-back Taye Taiwo if he moves to San Siro as expected this summer.

Earlier this week, L'Équipe claimed Taiwo, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season, has agreed a three-year deal with Milan.

Flamini came through the ranks at Marseille and rates the club and its players highly.

"He would be a great addition," Flamini told Mediaset. "He is physically strong and gets forward a lot without neglecting the defensive part of the game."
