Nice: 'Balotelli wants to stay'

“Mario Balotelli expressed his wish to stay at Nice,” said club President Jean-Pierre Rivere after an Olympique Marseille bid failed.

The striker had been expected to leave this summer and even had a medical with Marseille, refusing to attend pre-season training with Nice.

Last night, Les Aiglons put an end to the negotiations and it seems Balotelli has accepted it.

‘Marseille wouldn’t pay Balotelli fee’

Nice President Jean-Pierre Rivère explains Marseille wouldn’t pay €5m for Mario Balotelli, offering only Remy Cabella in exchange.

The Italian international was keen to make the move to the Stade Velodrome, but it was announced last night that he’d be staying with Les Aiglons.

“It’s very simple,” Rivère explained to L’Équipe.

Nice: ‘Balotelli is staying’

Nice have announced that Italian international Mario Balotelli will stay, aiming a swipe at Marseille in the process.

The striker didn’t turn up for the start of pre-season training, though he later did join the squad, with agent Mino Raiola working on a move to l’OM.

Today the Aiglons President said the situation was “complicated”, but tonight it has been announced that Super Mario is staying.

“The decision is made, Mario Balotelli has decided to stay at OGC Nice,” the club announced on Twitter.

Marseille: Balotelli or Zaza?

Olympique Marseille will make one final bid to agree terms with Nice over Italy international Mario Balotelli, keeping Simone Zaza waiting.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a summit has been organised on Friday to discuss the situation.

In two years at Nice, SuperMario scored 43 goals with three assists in 66 competitive games, but has made it clear he wants to move on.

He had visited the Marseille training ground last month to undergo a medical, which infuriated his current club.

Juventus to keep Kean

Juventus have reportedly decided to keep hold of teenage sensation Moise Kean, despite interest from Marseille, Nice, Borussia Dortmund and more.

The striker is only 18 years old, yet already has 22 Serie A appearances under his belt with five goals.

He spent last season on loan at Hellas Verona and was expected to go out on another temporary spell, perhaps with option to buy and counter-option.

There was interest from the likes of Olympique Marseille, Nice, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, Udinese, Parma and Leganes.

Marseille join Zaza race

Olympique Marseille have joined Nice, Porto and Torino in the hunt for Valencia and Italy striker Simone Zaza.

According to L’Equipe, Ligue 1 outfit Marseille and their Coach Rudi Garcia – formerly of Roma – are keeping a close eye on the situation.

Their first choice had been Mario Balotelli, but negotiations with Nice broke down after the offer of €2.5m was rejected outright.

Zaza scored 13 goals in 33 Liga matches last season, but is not part of Valencia’s plans for the future.
