Inter return with 5-0 win

Lautaro Martinez bagged a brace when Inter returned to the pitch after the Europa League Final with a 5-0 win against Lugano.

The Nerazzurri played their first friendly match behind closed doors in Pinetina against the Swiss side and Achraf Hakimi made his first appearance at right.

Lautaro was joined by Alexis Sanchez up front in the first half, as coach Antonio Conte decided to change the whole team for the second.

Nainggolan given Icardi treatment

Antonio Conte has named his first Inter XI as it emerges Radja Nainggolan has been given the Mauro Icardi treatment.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Nainggolan did not travel with the Inter squad for their first preseason friendly against Lugano on Sunday.

General manager Beppe Marotta recently announced the midfielder, along with Icardi, did not have a future with the Nerazzurri.

Ranocchia impressed by new signings

Inter’s Andrea Ranocchia is impressed by his side’s new signings, who he believes will make ‘an important contribution’ this season.

The Nerazzurri have already brought in six new players as they seek to bolster their squad ahead of their Champions League return.

And speaking after yesterday’s 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Lugano, the 30-year-old believes there will be enough matches during the campaign for everyone to prove their worth.

New Milan debuts with 4-0 win

Milan beat Swiss side Lugano 4-0 in their first friendly of the season, with Hakan Calhanoglu, Ricardo Rodriguez, Franck Kessie, Fabio Borini and Mateo Musacchio.

Vincenzo Montella was able to count on many of his summer signings in this run-out.

It took just two minutes to break the deadlock with Patrick Cutrone after good build-up work from Kessie and Andrea Bertolacci.

Another youth team player, Giovanni Crociata, doubled their lead on the hour mark on a Jose Mauri assist.

Rodriguez: ‘Pick me for fantasy football’

Ricardo Rodriguez says it was his “dream” to sign for Milan, and recommends picking him in fantasy football.

The left-back has joined the Rossoneri from Wolfsburg, and is expected to make his debut in a friendly with Lugano tonight.

“Milan made a great impression on me,” Rodriguez told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“They’re a very good team and I know I can improve tactically and in a thousand other things here. I like to learn.

Milan to face Lugano

Milan will face Lugano in a friendly on July 11, the first match for their new signings.

The Rossoneri have already completed deals for Franck Kessié, Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez and André Silva, and they’re working to sign Lucas Biglia and Nikola Kalinic.

Pre-season training resumes next week, with athletic tests at Milanello on Monday and Tuesday.

The real pre-season work then starts on July 5, with the first friendly scheduled against Lugano at Stadio Cornaredo six days later.

Samuel leaves Inter for Lugano

Former Inter defender Walter Samuel, who collaborated with Stefano Pioli, has been named the assistant Coach of Swiss club Lugano.

Samuel returned to Inter last November as one of Pioli’s assistants, after nine, trophy-filled years with the Nerazzurri as a player.

However, the Argentine vacated his role in May following Pioli’s dismissal and will continue his coaching career in Switzerland, as No 2 to new Lugano boss Pierluigi Tami.

Gabigol decides Inter friendly

Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa got his first goal in an Inter jersey, deciding a 1-0 friendly win over Lugano.

The Nerazzurri were missing their internationals for today’s test at the Appiano Gentile training ground.

Gabigol was decisive by converting a penalty after 18 minutes.

It was awarded following a Roullier foul on Rodrigo Palacio.

Empoli sign Albania's Veseli

Empoli have formally signed 23-year-old Albania international Frederic Veseli from FC Lugano.

The Serie A side announced his acquisition this evening via Twitter.

It confirmed Veseli has signed a contract to June 30 2018.

This deal also has an option to extend to June 30 2020.

The right-back can play any of the three roles in defence and spent much of his career in England.

He went through Manchester City, Manchester United, Ipswich, Bury, Port Vale and joined FC Lugano in July 2015.

Zeman: 'Lugano not good enough'

Zdenek Zeman explained his decision to leave Lugano and “would like a return to Serie A as long as there’s an interesting project.”

The Coach officially terminated his agreement with FC Lugano after just one year at the Swiss club.

“I always felt good at Lugano in terms of the environment, but unfortunately from a football point of view I cannot say the same,” Zeman told ITA Sport Press.
