Fiorentina set Pezzella asking price

Fiorentina have reportedly told Valencia that they must pay at least €20m in cash for defender German Pezzella.

According to La Nazione newspaper, the asking price is not going to drop this summer and they won’t accept any player exchanges either.

The source maintains Kevin Gameiro and Jasper Cillessen were mentioned as potential counterparts, but the Viola are not interested.

Pezzella is their captain and has two goals in 16 senior caps for Argentina, which also earned him interest from Napoli.

Viola sacrifice defensive duo to keep stars

Fiorentina are allegedly prepared to sacrifice Nikola Milenkovic and German Pezzella in order to keep both Federico Chiesa and Gaetano Castrovilli in the squad next season.

Both Chiesa and Castrovilli have been linked with moves to the top clubs in Serie A but President Rocco Commisso wants to keep the stars at the Artemio Franchi and build for a bright future.

To prevent losing the two stars, he might have to sacrifice other key members of the squad and La Nazione has claimed he will be willing to part ways with the two wanted defenders.

Pezzella: 'Don't have coronavirus'

Fiorentina defender German Pezzella has denied testing positive for coronavirus a second time.

Pezzella only recently made a full recovery from COVID-19, having been diagnosed with the contagion in March.

There were fears the Argentine was one of the six new cases confirmed by Fiorentina yesterday, but he has now allayed such talk.

“The news going around about me is false, luckily I HAVEN’T tested positive,” tweeted the 28-year-old.

Roma plot triple swap deal?

Roma are reportedly plotting a triple swap deal for Fiorentina pair German Pezzella and Cristiano Biraghi, plus Udinese’s Rolando Mandragora.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the plans stem from Roma’s need to cut costs, which has been exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The first two swaps involve Pezzella and Biraghi, the latter of whom seems unlikely to make his loan move to Inter permanent.

As per the newspaper, the Giallorossi are prepared to send Alessandro Florenzi and Leonardo Spinazzola in the opposite direction.
