Kluivert: 'I can do more'

Roma winger Justin Kluivert has warned that he “can do more” under Paulo Fonseca after scoring against Istanbul Basaksehir last night.

The 4-0 win made sure the Roma leapfrogged Basaksehir in Group J of the Europa League, and all of their goals came in the first half – including Kluivert’s in the 40th minute.

He praised Fonseca for his work at the helm and said it was “important” for the team to get the three points in Turkey.

“The coach has helped me a lot,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Fonseca hails Roma 'response'

Paulo Fonseca hailed his Roma players for the “response” they gave during their 3-0 win at Istanbul Basaksehir on Thursday.

Roma got the job done before half-time, scoring three goals in 15 minutes to leave themselves on the verge of the last 32.

“I’m happy with the response the team gave,” Fonseca told Sky Sport Italia.

“Our performance was positive in terms of attitude and courage, and I’m happy with how all my players fared.

Fonseca quiet on takeover talk

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca admits he is in the dark about a possible takeover, preferring to focus on Istanbul Basaksehir who will be “tough”.

Roma are third in their Europa League group and tomorrow face a Basaksehir side in first place, on the back of four straight wins and unbeaten since a 4-0 defeat to the Giallorossi in September.

“We’re confident like always. We’ll do everything to win this difficult game,” Fonseca said at a press conference.

Fonseca: 'Had to raise my voice'

Paulo Fonseca admits he had to “raise my voice” to wake Roma up halfway through their 3-0 win over Brescia. “We were not aggressive enough.”

The Giallorossi eventually ran riot with Chris Smalling, Gianluca Mancini and Edin Dzeko goals.

“Sometimes you need to raise your voice. In the first half, we had space, but didn’t play with the right tempo, we were not aggressive enough, so we had to change that,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Fonseca: 'Pastore out, Pellegrini in'

Dzeko Man Utd alternative to Mandzukic?

Manchester United are reportedly targeting Roma forward Edin Dzeko, as they are not convinced about Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic.

The last month has strongly pointed Mandzukic in the direction of Manchester United, but now the Corriere dello Sport and ESPN claim the former Manchester City striker Dzeko is instead a new target at Old Trafford.

Mandzukic has been left out of the Juventus squad by Maurizio Sarri this season and the lack of minutes might make United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer concerned about his overall condition.

Florenzi: 'Captain puts Roma first'

Alessandro Florenzi will “set the example and put Roma first, as a captain should do,” by not complaining at his lack of playing time.
