Ronaldo named best Portuguese player

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the best Portuguese player of 2019.

Ronaldo took home Best Men’s Player, meaning he has now won every edition of the award at the Quinas de Ouro ceremony (2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019).

The 34-year-old fired Juventus to an eighth straight Scudetto with his 28 Serie A goals, having only arrived from Real Madrid last summer.

He was also on top form for Portugal, leading them to glory at the inaugural Nations League over the summer.

Fonseca: 'An anthem for football'

Roma Coach Paulo Fonseca believes the 1-1 Derby della Capitale draw with Lazio was “an anthem for those who love the sport.”

It ended 1-1, but Lazio hit the woodwork four times and Roma rattled the frame of the goal twice.

“To anyone who enjoys football, it was an extraordinary match,” smiled the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.

The summer transfer window is nearing its end for another year and it certainly lived up to its hype as far as Italy is concerned. Lucescu: 'Fonseca used my ideas'

Former Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu claims Paulo Fonseca “made the most of my work, but at Roma he has to create his own ideas.”

The 74-year-old Romanian legend was on the Shakhtar bench from 2004-16, when he was replaced by Fonseca.

“In my view, Fonseca is an unknown quantity as a Coach,” insisted Lucescu on Tuttomercatoweb.
