Taison agent won't rule out Roma

Taison’s agent declared the midfielder “is happy at Shakhtar Donetsk, but nothing can be excluded” when asked if he will follow his Coach Paulo Fonseca to Roma this summer.

Fonseca is reportedly close to being named as the new Giallorossi tactician, and there have been recent reports of some of his players arriving in the Capital to reunite with him.

The 31-year-old Brazilian is one of those players linked with making the switch to Serie A, and his agent left the door open when he spoke today.

Fonseca and Roma await Shakhtar

Roma seem to have chosen Paulo Fonseca as their new Coach after a meeting with his representatives, but it depends on Shakhtar Donetsk.

According to several sources, including Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, today’s encounter in Madrid went well and they worked out the basics of a three-year contract worth €2.5m per season.

However, it all depends on whether Shakhtar Donetsk are prepared to release their tactician for free or demand the €5m release clause in his contract.

Di Biagio on Roma radar

Paulo Fonseca reportedly has doubts over the Roma proposal, so Roberto De Zerbi and current Italy U21 Coach Gigi Di Biagio are options.

Shakhtar Donetsk are open to releasing Fonseca for free after three years together, so directors Gianluca Petrachi and Fienga flew out to Lisbon for discussions with the Portuguese boss.

The latest rumour from Tuttomercatoweb is that Fonsenca isn’t entirely convinced by the project presented to him.

Report: Fonseca freed for Roma

Shakhtar Donetsk will reportedly let Paulo Fonseca join Roma for free, but the Coach wants assurances before taking over.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Shakhtar will waive the €5m needed to release Fonseca as a token of their gratitude for his good work.

The 47-year-old led the Ukrainian side to three League titles, and they will not begrudge him of the opportunity presented by Roma.

However, the newspaper warns he is seeking promises from the Giallorossi with regards to building a ‘competitive’ team.

Fonseca drops Roma hint

Paulo Fonseca looked back on ‘three beautiful years’ at Shakhtar Donetsk and set his sights on a club ‘in Europe’, amidst Roma speculation.

Fonseca has won three Ukrainian titles in his three seasons with Shakhtar, but the Coach is considered the heavy favourite to fill the vacancy at Roma.

“A lot of things can happen in football,” he told ProFutbol.

“Everyone knows I’m an ambitious Coach: and who knows, maybe one day I’ll coach a club in Europe.

Aquilani: 'De Zerbi right for Roma'

Alberto Aquilani believes Sassuolo Coach Roberto De Zerbi would be the right man to lead Roma. “It would be an exciting choice.”

The Giallorossi fired Eusebio Di Francesco in March and Claudio Ranieri reached the end of his caretaker manager contract.

Roma are expected to meet Shakhtar Donetsk Coach Paulo Fonseca over the next few days, having offered a three-year contract.

Roma prepare Fonseca offer

Roma are reported to be offering Shakhtar Donetsk’s Paulo Fonseca a three-year deal worth €2.5m a season to become their new Coach.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi have offered the Portuguese tactician a three-year contract with wages of €2.5m plus bonuses

The 46-year-old previously worked at Sporting Braga, where he won the Portuguese Cup, Pacos Ferreira and FC Porto, where he won the Supercup before being sacked just nine months into his stay at the Primeira Liga Giants.

Sinisa Mihajlovic is leaning towards an extended Bologna stay and has doubts over the Roma job, so Paulo Fonseca of Shakhtar Donetsk is the new favourite.
