Italy familiar with Nations League opponents

Italy will face the Netherlands in their first competitive match since Euro 2008, but Nations League opponents Bosnia-Herzegovina and Poland are more familiar.

The draw for the 2020-21 edition of the Nations League was made this evening in Amsterdam.

Roberto Mancini’s men were placed in League A, Group 1 with the Netherlands, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland.

Krunic: 'Milan haven't seen real me yet'

Milan midfielder Rade Krunic says the Rossoneri fans “haven’t seen the real Krunic yet” ahead of their trip to Bologna.

Krunic signed last summer from Empoli for €8m, but hardly played under Marco Giampaolo.

However since Stefano Pioli took over in October, the Bosnian has received more playing time.

Mancini: 'No Euro 2020 experiments'

Roberto Mancini warned his Italy squad for Euro 2020 is practically decided and there's "no time for experiments," but Mario Balotelli “will return when he deserves it.”

The Azzurri set a new all-time record of 10 consecutive victories and maintained their perfect record in training with last night’s 3-0 win away to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They can complete the set when hosting Armenia in Palermo on Monday evening.

Pjanic returns to Juve for tests

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has been released from international duty by Bosnia and Herzegovina due to injury.

He pulled up during last night’s 3-0 Italy victory in Zenica, suffering from a muscular problem in his right adductor.

The Bosnian Federation announced this afternoon that Pjanic would be released early, as he won’t be fit to play against Liechtenstein on Monday.

He will now undergo tests with his club in Turin to ascertain the extent of the damage.

Azzurri built around quality

Italy finally have an identity built around a group of quality midfielders, writes Emmet Gates, but concerns remain in defence.

Roberto Mancini made history. Following Italy’s fluid 3-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Bilino Polje stadium in Zenica. This was Mancini’s 10th consecutive win with the Azzurri, surpassing the legendary Vittorio Pozzo’s record in the late 1930s. It was also a sixth consecutive away win, another first.

Donnarumma: 'Italy make Euro 2020 impact'

Gianluigi Donnarumma maintains Italy “can continue this run into Euro 2020 and have our say against any opponent.”

The Azzurri set a new all-time record with their 10th consecutive victory, the sixth in a row on their travels, with a 3-0 result at Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Tonali: 'I'm more of a Jorginho'

Sandro Tonali admits he is “more of a Jorginho” at Brescia, but can adjust his style to play alongside the Chelsea man for Italy.

The 19-year-old was given his first start in the Azzurri jersey during a 3-0 Euro 2020 qualifying victory away to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I am happy with how we all played. I’m glad that I got through the emotion of my first Italy start and am enjoying all of it,” the Brescia youngster told Rai Sport.

Gollini: 'Fantastic' Italy debut

Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini felt “fantastic” on his senior Italy debut, but concedes there’s a lot of competition for places.

The shot-stopper came off the bench for the final few minutes of their 3-0 victory in Bosnia and Herzegovina, replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma.

“It was really a fantastic feeling and I cannot deny it reminded me of my Serie A debut,” Gollini told Rai Sport in Zenica.

Castrovilli: 'Proud of Italy debut'

Just months after his Serie A debut, he has become a regular with the Viola jersey and now earned his first Azzurri cap.
