‘Juventus have more to lose’

Inter team manager Dejan Stankovic believes Juventus “have so much to lose” in the Derby d’Italia.

Bianconeri defender Andrea Barzagli admitted yesterday that his side could not afford to lose at San Siro on Sunday, and the former midfielder agrees.

“I agree with Barzagli,” Stankovic told Sky.

Stankovic: ‘Inter are favourites’

Team manager Dejan Stankovic believes Inter are favourites going into the Derby d’Italia against Juventus.

The Nerazzurri are eight points clear of the defending champions, but have not won this fixture at San Siro since 2010.

“The Derby d’Italia is a game you always want to win,” Stankovic told reporters as he visited Expo in Milan.

“[Coach] Roberto [Mancini] has plenty of players to choose from now that they’re coming back from international duty.

Stankovic returns to Inter

Inter welcome back former icon Dejan Stankovic as their new First Team Club Manager.

The Serbian played 326 games for the Nerazzurri and scored 46 goals.

In his new role he will assist Coach Roberto Mancini directly in managing the first team players.

Stankovic's new role was announced by Inter via a statement on their site.

“It is with immense joy that FC Internazionale welcomes back Dejan Stankovic, who is ready to start a new phase in his sporting career in the role of First Team Club Manager,” reads the statement.

Stankovic: 'Mancini right for Inter'

Dejan Stankovic won’t rule out a future at Inter, but assures Roberto Mancini “is the right man for the job.”

Stankovic wore the Nerazzurri jersey for many years and is now assistant manager to Andrea Stramaccioni at Udinese.

“I hope with all my heart that Inter can qualify for the Europa League,” he told reporters at the Premio Gentleman event.

“I have a weak spot for Inter, which is only normal, as I played there for 10 years and know the club well. I wish them all the best.
