Kepa 'not proud' of Sarri feud

Kepa Arrizabalaga admits ‘I’m not proud’ of his on-pitch feud with ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri but insists the case was closed ‘the next day’.

Kepa refused to come off in last season’s EFL Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester City, with the goalkeeper appearing to disobey Sarri’s orders.

However, the 24-year-old insists they parted on ‘good’ terms and praised the now-Juventus Coach for quickly putting the controversy behind him.

'Kepa left Sarri speechless!'

Gianfranco Zola has revealed that Kepa Arrizabalaga left Maurizio Sarri ‘speechless’ when he refused to come off in last season’s EFL Cup Final.

Kepa defended his actions during Chelsea’s penalties defeat to Manchester City in February, explaining there was a ‘misunderstanding’ over his fitness.

Sarri: 'Chelsea tell me it's not true'

Maurizio Sarri told Italian media Kepa was penalised for his “attitude” and he’s not worried about the Chelsea sack. “What you write isn’t true – or at least they tell me it’s not true.”

The Coach sent a signal by dropping goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in the 2-0 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur this evening.

Sarri takes stand against Kepa

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has taken a stand by dropping Kepa Arrizabalaga against Tottenham after his refusal to be substituted.

The €80m goalkeeper was fined a week’s wages by the club after he openly rebelled against his boss, refusing to leave the field during the final moments of the Carabao Cup Final against Manchester City.

Sarri and Kepa insisted it was a “misunderstanding,” but many were waiting to see what decision the Italian tactician would make for tonight’s big Premier League game with Spurs.

Sarri: I could drop Kepa

Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that he could drop Kepa Arrizabalaga for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

Kepa was fined a week’s wages by Chelsea after the goalkeeper refused to be substituted during a cup final on Sunday, and Sarri admitted ‘I need to send a message to my group’ ahead of the London derby against Tottenham.

“Sunday we did a wonderful match,” said the former Napoli boss at a Press conference.

Chelsea fine Kepa for Sarri feud

Chelsea have fined Kepa Arrizabalaga a week’s wages after he disobeyed manager Maurizio Sarri during the EFL Cup Final on Sunday.

Kepa refused Sarri’s calls to be substituted before Chelsea’s penalty shootout against Manchester City and it had been reported that the goalkeeper would avoid punishment.

Nonetheless, the Blues have now decided to take action and the Spaniard has finally apologised for his behaviour at Wembley Stadium.
