Nations League Finals draw today

The 2021 Nations League Finals draw will take place at the UEFA headquarters today and Italy are among the Final Four in the competition.

At 16.30 UK time, the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League will be decided, and Italy seems set to host the Finals scheduled for October 2021.

UEFA revealed on their official websites that the Executive Committee will meet to confirm the host after today’s draw.

There’s no seeding in the draw and the semi-finals are scheduled for October 6 and 7, whilst the Final should take place on October 10, 2021.

Gravina: 'Mancini loves Italy'

The FIGC chief Gabriele Gravina insisted ‘there’s no problem’ with the renewal of Italy CT Roberto Mancini's contract. ‘He has created a lot in a short time’.

After another win against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo, Italy are through to the UEFA Nations League Finals and Mancini’s men continue to impress.

Reports in Italy suggested the FIGC has prepared a new contract beyond World Cup 2022 in Qatar for the current coach, but Mancini has been linked with top clubs across Europe too.

Report: Italy want Mancini beyond Qatar 2022

The FIGC reportedly prepares to offer Italy CT Roberto Mancini a contract extension to run beyond Qatar 2022.

The Federcalcio has been impressed with the improvements made by the coach, as the Azzurri were flawless in the Euro 2020 qualifiers and now top the UEFA Nations League group after a 2-0 win against Poland.

The win extended their unbeaten run in the competition to five games and La Repubblica reports the FIGC prepares to offer the coach a new agreement to last beyond World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Mancini: 'A beautiful Italy'

Italy CT Roberto Mancini said the Azzurri displayed a ‘great team performance’ against Poland on Sunday.

Mancini had to sit out of the match against Poland after testing positive for COVID-19 but was quick to praise the team after the win at the Mapei Stadium.

His assistant, Alberico Evani, was in charge when Jorginho and Domenico Berardi scored the goals to secure a 2-0 win in the UEFA Nations League last night.

Juve 'continuity' key for Morata

Atletico Madrid loanee Alvaro Morata has said ‘the continuity’ at Juventus can help him become the main man at Spain. ‘I can be that missing striker’.

Milan: Saelemaekers returns from Belgium

Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers has suffered an injury and returns from international duty with Belgium.

The 21-year-old former Anderlecht player was called up for the three games against Switzerland, England and Denmark, but the Red Devils announced he has returned to Italy.

“Because of injury Saelemaekers, Leandro Trossard and Henrik van Crombrugge returned to their clubs,” Belgium wrote in a statement.

“Thomas Kaminski joins the team.”

Report: Ronaldo available for Portugal

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a sprained ankle towards the end of the match against Lazio but is expected to be available for Portugal.

The Bianconeri attacker, who scored the opener against the Biancocelesti, suffered an injury with 15 minutes to go of the 1-1 draw against the Aquile, as Felipe Caicedo equalised four minutes into stoppages on Sunday.

Italy schedule for late arrivals

Italy has reportedly scheduled for delayed arrivals but many of the players might not come at all, as the local health authorities have blocked various clubs from travelling.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports the local health authorities (ASL) picks the team during this national break, with players from Sassuolo, Fiorentina, Genoa, Inter, Lazio and Roma currently held back and departures from these teams are currently prohibited.
