Romagnoli rants at Supercoppa ref

Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli claims they were “booked or sent off at every minimal contact” with Juventus in the Supercoppa.

The Bianconeri won 1-0 thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo glancing header, but Franck Kessie saw red after a VAR review for his high tackle on Emre Can.

“The way the cards were handed out was unusual, as we were booked or sent off at every minimal contact,” Romagnoli told Milan TV.

Trio banned for Milan

Milan will have to do without Franck Kessie, Alessio Romagnoli and Davide Calabria against Genoa, as they’ll be suspended after the Supercoppa.

The Rossoneri were beaten 1-0 in Jeddah by Juventus this evening and it proved costly going forward in Serie A too.

Kessie was shown a straight red card after a VAR review for his stamp on Emre Can, meaning his ban of at least one match is automatic.

Can anyone stop SuperJuve?

The Juventus juggernaut keeps on rolling, as Milan were barged out of the way in Jeddah for the Supercoppa, writes Giancarlo Rinaldi.

Italian football, to paraphrase Gary Lineker, is a simple game. You can play it when you like, where you like, but in the end Juventus win. They became the most successful side in the history of the Supercoppa outright without even having to be anywhere near their best. Whenever, wherever, the Bianconeri and this trophy were meant to be together.

Gattuso: 'Higuain did have a fever'

Gennaro Gattuso was irritated at officials after Milan lost the Supercoppa to Juventus and insisted Gonzalo Higuain had a fever, but wouldn’t discuss the Chelsea rumours.

Cristiano Ronaldo got the only goal in Jeddah with a glancing header, although Franck Kessie was later sent off via a VAR review for his stamp on Emre Can.

“We have to compliment the team, as I said in the Press conference we had to climb a mountain and we tried,” the Coach told Rai Sport.
