Neymar picks Buffon and Thiago Motta in PSG All Time XI

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has included Gigi Buffon and Thiago Motta in his all-time PSG XI, with many other Serie A stars featured too.

The Brazilian star has picked his PSG All Time XI in a video shot this past June to mark the club’s 50th anniversary.

Neymar chose Gigi Buffon in goal, even if the 2006 Italy World Cup winner has only spent one season in Paris.

The Juventus goalkeeper played 25 games with the French club in the 2018-19 campaign, winning a League 1 title and a French Super Cup.

Cagliari forward Joao Pedro has scored 15 goals for the Rossoblu in 2020 and is the most efficient Brazilian in the five leading European Leagues.

From January this year, there are no Brazilians who have fared better than the Casteddu striker, with four goals down to the next player on the list.

Matheus Cunha from Hertha Berlin is second with 11 goals, whilst Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus completes the podium with 10 goals.

Everton attacker Richarlison has scored nine goals in 2020, with Neymar at fifth with only eight goals at PSG.

Florenzi's PSG debut overshadowed by brawl

Alessandro Florenzi’s PSG debut did not go entirely to plan, as his team lost 1-0 to Olympique Marseille in a game with five red cards, including Neymar.

The Italy international made his transfer from Roma on loan with option to buy earlier this week and was thrown straight into the starting XI on Sunday evening.

Florenzi ended up playing 84 minutes of the Ligue 1 match, which ended 1-0 for Marseille thanks to a Florian Thauvin goal.

He wasn’t the main headline, though, thanks to a chaotic and bitter affair that saw five players sent off.

No dishonour in Atalanta defeat

The Champions League quarter-final proved a step too far for Atalanta, writes Giancarlo Rinaldi, as the sheer wealth of PSG talent eventually made the difference.

Just to be writing this is an achievement in itself. Atalanta - the boys from Bergamo - came within a few minutes of the Champions League semi-final. Anybody who ever watched Italian football would rarely have thought they would be able to say those words.

Neymar earns as much as Atalanta

PSG have a very different status to their Champions League quarter-final opponents, as Neymar’s salary covers the entire Atalanta squad wage bill.

The two teams go head-to-head in the opening Final Eight fixture in Lisbon on Wednesday night.

Paris Saint-Germain already travelled to Portugal to set up in their Faro base yesterday, while La Dea are due to leave Bergamo on Monday.

La Gazzetta dello Sport took a look at the finances of these clubs and found a quite extraordinary statistic.

Pastore: 'I don't have the mentality to become No1'

Roma attacker Javier Pastore admitted he ‘never had the mentality’ to become the best but claimed he grew 'a lot' as a player at Paris Saint-Germain.

Pastore returned to Serie A ahead of the 2018-19 season but has only managed 30 games since signing for the Giallorossi.

Pastore made his name in Europe at Palermo, where he contributed 16 goals and 16 assists in 82 games and earned a move to PSG, but he has also become known as a player who prefers to leave the grafting to others.

Dhorasoo: 'Cavani more suited to Inter'

Former PSG teammate Vikash Dhorasoo believes Edinson Cavani ‘would be far more complementary to Romelu Lukaku than Neymar or Kylian Mbappé.’
