Alex Sandro to start Juve-Barca

Alex Sandro is expected to start at left-back as Juventus host Barcelona, but there's bad news for Neymar.

The Champions League quarter-final first leg kicks off in Turin at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

There had been some doubts over who would complete the defence with Dani Alves, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.

Kwadwo Asamoah had been the favourite this morning, but Mediaset Premium report that Alex Sandro will get the nod.

Assessing Barça

Barcelona’s weaknesses outweigh their strengths at the moment but, as Football Espana’s Livio Caferoglu writes, that doesn’t make them any less capable against Juventus.

The 2016-17 campaign may be shaping up to be Barcelona’s most difficult under Luis Enrique, but as the Coach regularly reminds the Spanish Press, the Catalans are still fighting on all three fronts. Furthermore, they’ve reserved their best performances for the Champions League, most recently staging the greatest comeback ever seen in the competition’s history, but they’ll need more than that to beat Juventus.

Buffon: ‘Barca will give us answers’

Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon believes Barcelona “will give us answers” about how far they’ve progressed.

The Bianconeri reached the Champions League final in 2015, but were beaten 3-1 by the Blaugrana in Berlin.

The two sides will renew acquaintances in Turin tomorrow night, in the first leg of their Quarter-Final tie.

“I’ve never re-watched the Berlin final, but I have some pretty clear memories of that night,” Buffon told reporters in the pre-match Press conference.

‘MSN no better than Juve duo’

Leonardo Bonucci refused to rank Barcelona’s MSN trident above than Juventus pair Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala as both “are among the top 10”.

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar have scored over 300 goals for Barca since October 2014, making them the most prolific forward line in world football, but Bonucci felt Juve’s partnership was in the same calibre.

Juventus must be bold

Ahead of the first leg of the Barcelona tie, Gaby McKay analyses the strengths and weaknesses of the Bianconeri.

Much has been made in the run-up to Juventus’ clash with Barcelona of the opportunity for the Old Lady to seek revenge for her 2015 Champions League Final defeat. On that occasion the Blaugrana dominated the first-half, only for the Italian champions to fight back before being undone by Luis Suarez and a last-second Neymar goal on the break.

Radja Nainggolan compared his Roma teammate Francesco Totti to tennis Legend Roger Federer.

The 35-year-old Swiss tennis star beat Rafel Nadal in the final of the Miami Open yesterday, leading to comparisons with 40-year-old Totti's longevity in football.

"Federer is exceptional, the Belgian told Supertennis. "But we have Totti who still plays at forty and for Roma, he's just as valuable as Federer.

"My four favorite players in general are, however, [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and [Eden] Hazard."
