Neymar: ‘Honour to play with Buffon’

Neymar says “it will be an honour to share a dressing room with a goalkeeper as brilliant as Gigi Buffon” at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Juventus and Azzurri legend has joined the French champions on a two-year contract, the first club side he has played for outside of Italy.

“It will be an honour to share a dressing room with a goalkeeper as brilliant as Gigi Buffon, because of his history and the person he is,” Neymar told Fox Sports.

“He has many qualities.”

Buffon: Matuidi convinced me

Gianluigi Buffon reveals ex-Juventus teammate Blaise Matuidi advised him to join Paris Saint-Germain and is excited to play alongside the ‘incredible’ Neymar.

Matuidi won four Ligue 1 titles with PSG between 2011 and 2017, prior to joining Buffon at Juve last summer, while the former Italy goalkeeper is set to share a pitch with the world’s most expensive player.

“Blaise is a special person and the empathy between us is very strong,” continued the 40-year-old at his presentation.

Cavani return to Serie A?

Edinson Cavani is increasingly likely to leave PSG and return to Italy, with Napoli and Juventus the favourites.

The Uruguay international impressed at the World Cup and was sorely missed due to injury when they lost to France.

According to Catalan paper Sport, Neymar has asked Paris Saint-Germain to get rid of Cavani and make an offer for his old Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez.

It is absolutely no secret that Cavani and Neymar do not get along, both on and off the field, so it’s hardly a surprise their biggest buy would make such a request.

Ronaldo a no-brainer

While Gaby McKay has doubts Cristiano Ronaldo really will join Juventus, it’s clear that he’d be a stunning signing for all of Serie A.

If Cristiano Ronaldo signs for Juventus, by far the most shocking aspect of the transfer will be that it was Tuttosport who got the scoop.

With previous headline stories linking the Bianconeri to Neymar, Lionel Messi and just about every superstar under the sun, no-one gave much credence to the Turin sports daily’s front page on Sunday morning, which insisted negotiations for the Portuguese superstar were ongoing.

Ronaldo 'insulted' by €100m tag

Marca claim Cristiano Ronaldo decided to leave Real Madrid after they put an “insulting” €100m price-tag on him and Juventus can now take advantage.

There are now so many sources reporting the idea of a transfer to Turin that it is difficult to argue otherwise, although that doesn’t necessarily mean it will go through.

According to tomorrow’s edition of Spanish paper Marca, Ronaldo made up his mind to quit Real Madrid in January.

Gentile: If I marked Neymar…

Italian World Cup winner Claudio Gentile reveals how he would have marked Neymar. “I’d have tried to convince him to be a serious person…”

Gentile was known as a tough-tackling defender during his playing career and famously marked Zico and Diego Maradona en route to Italy lifting the 1982 World Cup.

“What would I do if I had to mark Neymar? I can’t say... but surely I’d have tried to convince him to be a serious person,” the former Juventus stopper told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Brazil are through to face Belgium or Japan in the World Cup quarter-finals, after beating Mexico 2-0 in Samara.

The Selecao finished ahead of Switzerland and Serbia to top Group E, while a final day loss to Sweden saw Mexico fall to runners-up in Group F.

It was the Central American side who started the better though, with Inter defender Miranda forced to block from Hirving Lozano after fine work from Andres Guardado.
