Corradi: 'I had a deal with Milan'

Bernardo Corradi reveals he almost joined Milan rather than Valencia, but changed his mind out of ‘gratitude’ to Lazio.

The centre-forward is now a youth team coach aged 44 and hung up his boots after one final experience at the Montreal Impact in 2012.

“My football journey was different to most, because when I was 18, I was still dividing my time between the lower leagues, having to do night school and fit that around training sessions,” Corradi told Sky Sport Italia.

Good riddance, Chievo

The Flying Donkeys once won hearts as plucky underdogs, but Emmet Gates saw them become the epitome of mid-table mediocrity and a Serie A eyesore.

There was once a time in which Chievo conquered the heart and minds of football fans. There was once a charm to their story: the team from the northwest district of Verona, with a population of less than 5,000 people, that rose through the Italian football pyramid to make it to the top flight and not just play with the big boys, but beat them.

Malago' proposes new Serie A chief

Serie A Commissioner Giovanni Malagò met with 20 clubs today and confirmed Gaetano Miccichè is likely to take over. “Nobody said no.”

The FIGC was put under a Commissioner when the various elements of Italian football failed to elect a new President and the Lega Serie A is in a similar position.

CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) chief Malagò had an informal meeting with the 20 top flight clubs in Milan this evening.

“It was a constructive and positive meeting with a cordial tone,” said Malagò.

Corradi's son seriously ill

Former Chievo, Inter, Valencia and Manchester City striker Bernardo Corradi revealed his eight-year-old son is seriously ill.

The Italy international retired in December 2012 after a brief spell in MLS with Montreal Impact.

His wife, actress and television personality Elena Santarelli, confirmed the heart-breaking news via a Facebook post.

“On November 30, it was as if I and my husband received a punch in the stomach without warning, a punch so strong that it takes your breath away and chills you to the bone in an instant.”
