Younes: Camorra claims ‘ghastly’

Amin Younes has branded claims that he did not want to join Napoli because of the Camorra ‘ghastly’ after looking back on his turbulent summer.

Younes ultimately signed for Napoli on a free transfer from Ajax, but not before a public slinging match between the winger’s camp and the Partenopei, as well as a report that suggested he felt intimated by an alleged encounter with the crime syndicate.

“All these things make no sense,” he told DPA.

Napoli reduced Champions League squad

Napoli have left injured Amin Younes out of their Champions League squad, which has only 23 players.

The Partenopei are in the same group as Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Red Star Belgrade.

A club can have up to 25 players in the A List, but eight places are reserved for those who grew up on a local level and Napoli cannot fill all of those.

Only Lorenzo Insigne and Sebastiano Luperto spent time in the Napoli youth academy, while Elseid Hysaj, Marek Hamsik, Piotr Zielinski and Simone Verdi qualify as players who came up in Italy.

Napoli to drop Younes for CL

Amin Younes will reportedly make way for David Ospina in Napoli’s squad for the Champions League group stage.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the decision to drop Younes was influenced by Napoli’s 24-man limit and his ‘physical problems’, which have prevented him from making a first-team appearance to date.

Replacing him is set to be Ospina, who was a late arrival from Arsenal and has been promoted to Partenopei No 1 in Alex Meret’s absence.

Agent: Younes ready for Napoli

Amin Younes’ agent has expressed his relief that ‘the mini soap-opera’ surrounding the Napoli new boy is over.

Younes tweeted on Sunday he was ‘happy’ to have joined Napoli and that he had held ‘good’ talks with Carlo Ancelotti, despite the winger not seeming like he would honour his free transfer from Ajax.

“Younes’ recent tweet has finally put an end to the mini-soap opera that was created around him,” Nicola Innocentin told RMC Sport.

‘Younes motivated for Napoli’

Amin Younes’ agent assures he’s “motivated” to play for Napoli once he recovers from his injury.

The winger was set to join the Partenopei for a nominal fee in January, having already signed a pre-contract deal to move from Ajax.

Despite being in Naples to sign though, the German international performed a U-turn to stay in the Netherlands, and it then appeared he was trying to get out of moving to Serie A.

Younes has turned up to pre-season, but he will be out for several months with an achilles injury.

Younes to Napoli tomorrow

Amin Younes is expected to report for Napoli’s pre-season training camp tomorrow, before beginning rehabilitation for a torn achilles tendon.

The German international signed for the Partenopei in January, but his transfer has proved to be a controversial one.

Ajax agreed to sell him in January, but the winger pulled out of the deal to be closer to his grandfather, who was ill.

After that though it appeared he was trying to get out of his contract altogether, despite repeated warnings that he’d signed a legally binding deal.

No Jorginho or Younes for Napoli

Amin Younes is officially a Napoli player, but the winger has been left out of their preseason training camp, along with Jorginho.

Lega Serie A’s official website confirmed earlier reports that Younes signed a contract with Napoli in January, but the former Ajax winger has been overlooked by new boss Carlo Ancelotti, given his efforts to pull out of his agreement with the Partenopei.

The other notable absence is that of Jorginho, who is on the verge of joining Manchester City, while youngsters Leandrinho and Zinedine Machach have also been omitted.

Preziosi: ‘Younes out for months’

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi claims Amin Younes, who joins Napoli on July 1, “will be out for seven or eight months” with an injury.

The German international signed a pre-contract agreement with the Partenopei in January, but then appeared to try to back out of the move.

He was in Naples in January with a view to moving the transfer forward, but he returned to Ajax, ostensibly to be closer to his grandfather.

Younes’ behaviour means he almost certainly has no future at the San Paolo, so he could be sold or loaned out.

Agent: Younes ready for Napoli

Amin Younes’ agent insists the winger is expecting to join up with Napoli for preseason and work under the ‘great’ Carlo Ancelotti.

Younes appeared to pull out of a pre-contract with Napoli, who have maintained that the agreement was legally binding, but Nicola Innocentin assured the Germany international was still on his way to the San Paolo.

“Younes is waiting for Napoli’s call for preseason, that’s the lad’s next step,” he told Radio Crc.
