Pau Lopez: 'Roma perfect in first half'

Pau Lopez insists Roma were “almost perfect” in the first half, only to capitulate 2-1 to Atalanta. “It was a different team to the one that lost to Sassuolo and Bologna.”

Edin Dzeko had put the Giallorossi in front in Bergamo, but Jose Luis Palomino and Mario Pasalic turned it around.

“We played very well in the first half and were almost perfect,” the goalkeeper told DAZN.

Rafael to Roma?

Roma have reportedly scheduled a meeting with Cagliari today, to find an agreement with the Rossoblu goalkeeper Rafael.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that the Brazilian shot stopper could be on his way to the Giallorossi and claims a meeting with Cagliari has been set up to negotiate a transfer to the Olimpico.

Roma’s 22-year-old goalkeeper Daniel Fuzato could leave the club and TMW has revealed that his compatriot Rafael has been targeted as a direct replacement.

Capital gains

The Derby della Capitale ended in a draw, so Giancarlo Rinaldi believes both Roma and Lazio can take positives from the performance as well as a point each.

The highways and byways of Italian football are littered with the form books which pundits reckon we are best to throw out of the window ahead of every derby. However, we students of Calcio history know exactly which one the big four cross-city clashes in Serie A produces the highest percentage of draws. In Rome - more than Turin, Genoa or Milan - we have learned down the years that our post-match analysis will often be in assessing who the moral victors were when the honours on the field of play have ended up even.

Inter-Roma understudies disappoint

Inter and Roma were expected to put on a Friday night show at San Siro, but Martin Mork watched a disappointing spectacle without some top stars.

The anticipation and the media build-up before the clash between two of Italy’s giants drew parallels with the greatest pieces from the Italian opera. In the end, the reviews weren’t looking very good for either of the protagonists at La Scala del Calcio.

Pau Lopez doubt for Inter-Roma

Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez is in doubt for tonight’s clash against Inter with a suspected muscle injury, according to reports.

Il Tempo report that the Spaniard has pulled up with a muscle twinge in the last several hours.

The Giallorossi might also be without striker Edin Dzeko, who has been battling with the flu for the last several days.

The Roman paper states that if Lopez doesn’t make it, Antonio Mirante will replace him, but they also say that Roma won’t make any decisions until an hour before the game.

Pau Lopez: 'Roma a step up for me'

Pau Lopez said Roma represented a “step up” in his career and it was worth taking a pay cut, even if he is being worked hard by his new coach Paulo Fonseca.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper is currently on international duty with Spain, but said the €23m move from Real Betis to Roma has presented him with a tougher daily routine at the training ground.

“Perhaps we train harder in Italy,” he told AS about his new life in the Italian capital. “In Rome I have a Portuguese coach, Paulo Fonseca, who works hard.”
