Milan clubs to stay at San Siro?

Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello admits his club and Milan have been forced “to propose new ideas, starting with the maintenance of San Siro.”

A meeting was held earlier today between Inter, Milan and the city council, which reiterated its stance that the current stadium would remain intact.

That has seemingly thrown the two clubs’ plans for a new venue into doubt, with Antonello conceding they would have to be revised.

Galliani family row over Milan chiefs

Former CEO Adriano Galliani had distanced himself from his son Gianluca’s bitter criticism of Milan directors. “I didn’t inspire those words.”

The club fired Coach Marco Giampaolo this week after just seven games to bring in Stefano Pioli.

“Directors with a salary package that is unique in world football who always dump responsibility on to Coaches and players without taking any themselves,” wrote Gianluca Galliani, a regular in the stands at San Siro for decades alongside his father.

Pioli set up as just another Milan flop

Stefano Pioli is only the latest poor sap to take the thankless task of leading Milan, as Susy Campanale identifies the real culprits.

People have noted that political satires like The Thick of It and Veep are providing scenarios less ridiculous than the ones we see playing out on the news every day now. The chaos at AC Milan feels much the same. There comes a point when ‘banter era’ doesn’t really cover it. This is a club without a plan, a leader, an identity, just endless half-thought-out projects that are thrown out to the public before they’ve been properly vetted, then abandoned once enough negative feedback arrives.

Milan launch anti-racism taskforce

Milan have announced that they will debut an anti-racism taskforce during tomorrow’s derby with Inter.

Serie A has once more been marred by racist incidents in recent weeks, with Romelu Lukaku and Franck Kessie abused by Cagliari and Verona fans.

Given the exposure of tomorrow’s derby, Milan will use the occasion to promote a campaign that aims to stamp out discrimination in stadia and on social media.

'Juve not global like Milan'

Milan President Paolo Scaroni claims his club ‘don’t even take notice of Juventus around the world’ because ‘we’ve won seven Champions Leagues.’

Milan are undergoing a period of modernisation under Elliott Management, and while Scaroni again underlined the need to raise turnover, he felt the Rossoneri had more global reach than Juve.

“I don't want to come across as venal, but it’s all about money,” the 72-year-old told reporters.

Scaroni: 'Milan removed FFP burden'

Milan President Paolo Scaroni assures giving up on the Europa League “did us good by taking away the burden of Financial Fair Play.”

The Rossoneri had qualified for the tournament, but rather than risk ending up in the same situation next year with huge Financial Fair Play discrepancies, they agreed with UEFA to be excluded and wipe the slate clean.

“It did hurt to go out of Europe, but it did us good by taking away the burden of Financial Fair Play,” Scaroni told Sky Sport Italia.

Scaroni drops San Siro hint

Paolo Scaroni has suggested that Milan will deny Atalanta the chance to play their Champions League games at San Siro. “Our fans have already suffered...”

Atalanta’s request comes as their own stadium is currently being refurbished, Milan are not participating in European competition this season and that there is minimal distance between the two clubs.

Scaroni: 'Milan had to end saga'

Milan President Paolo Scaroni admits they had to “put an end to this saga and take this burden off our backs” after accepting Europa League exclusion.

The club had succeeded in winning an appeal to at least delay their exclusion from the Europa League last summer for Financial Fair Play infractions, but the situation was even worse this time around.

Milan to host 2026 Winter Olympics

Milan will host the 2026 Winter Olympics in part – and it could affect plans for a new stadium to replace San Siro.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed Milan and the Venetian town of Cortina d’Ampezzo as the two host cities for the Games on Monday.

The joint-bid was chosen in favour of that put forward by the Swedish capital of Stockholm.

It marks the first time that Milan will host an Olympic event and the fourth time overall for Italy.
