Scaroni confirms Gazidis talks

Milan President Paolo Scaroni has confirmed that talks with Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis are ‘ongoing’.

Gazidis has been linked with Milan ever since Elliott Management’s takeover of the club, and Scaroni spoke of his optimism at a deal being struck with the Greek-South African.

“Gattuso must be calm, but I don’t think he feels worked up,” he continued to Corriere della Sera.

“He’s my Coach because he’s done well. I also like him because he treats his job with complete sincerity.

‘CL more important than Serie A’

Milan President Paolo Scaroni has claimed that ‘the Scudetto is less important than the Champions League’.

Milan are Italy’s most successful club in Europe, with seven European Cups to their name, and Scaroni expressed his desire for the Rossoneri to tap back into that trend.

“What have I understood in these two months? That there are two mountains to climb: one of building a winning team and another of getting [Milan’s] accounts back on its feet,” he told Corriere della Sera.

‘Milan seeking voluntary agreement’

Milan President Paolo Scaroni confirms a voluntary agreement with UEFA on Financial Fair Play is the “desirable” outcome.

The previous owners were rejected for both a voluntary agreement and a settlement agreement, which eventually led to the Rossoneri being thrown out of the Europa League.

Elliott Management forced out Yonghong Li and his board, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that the club should be reinstated to the Europa League, with a new FFP agreement to be struck.

‘Players win games, clubs win titles’

Milan President Paolo Scaroni has outlined Elliott Management’s vision. “Players win games, but titles are won by clubs.”

Scaroni’s short reign at the helm of Milan has overseen an overhaul at board level, with the likes of Leonardo and Paolo Maldini coming in, and the 73-year-old believes getting the basics right off the pitch will only help the team on it.

“We haven’t won a Champions League since 2010, and last year we hit rock bottom with the national team not qualifying for the World Cup,” he told La Stampa.

Maldini to be offered vice presidency?

Corriere della Sera reports Milan legend Paolo Maldini could be offered the role of the club’s vice presidency.

Despite having been touted for a position at the club numerous times in the past, it would be the former captain’s first involvement at San Siro since he retired from playing in 2009.

And despite Maldini recently stating that he would not be returning, the Rossoneri are reportedly intent on making him an offer he cannot refuse.
