“The first Final of any kind I can remember watching. You never lose that,” he told ESPN, referring to the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win against Schalke in the 1998 UEFA Cup Final.

Lautaro makes Argentina history

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has become the first Argentina player to score three goals against Mexico since 1930.

Martinez took just 16 minutes to bag a first-half hat-trick as Argentina thrashed Mexico 4-0 on Tuesday evening.

With that, the 22-year-old made history as the first player to accomplish such a feat since since former Napoli and Genoa attacker Guillermo Stabile in 1930.

However, he was replaced by Juventus forward Paulo Dybala at half-time.

Sanchez a steal for Inter

Inter's deal with Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez is zero-risk and with potentially massive benefits, writes Football Italia Chief Correspondent Richard Hall.

"Alexis Sanchez to Inter is a gamble that both parties could win comfortably.” These were the words of Udinese legend and former team-mate of Alexis Sanchez, Antonio Di Natale. The former Azzurri hitman had a point, when you analyse the terms that will see the Chilean arrive in Milan, one has to think it is a steal. The agreement is a risk-free one for Antonio Conte and could, in turn, see the rebirth of a superlative talent that could light up Serie A.

Make the right move, Maurito

Napoli are tailor-made for a clinical finisher like Mauro Icardi and all roads lead to the San Paolo, but Giancarlo Rinaldi fears he’ll waste this too.

As a failed former striker of mediocre repute, there are few things I find more frustrating than watching talent go to waste. Most of us - spectators, supporters or scribes - have harboured some dreams of swapping places with the stars who set foot on the fields of Serie A, La Liga or the Premiership. To watch gifts like those given to Mauro Icardi being apparently frittered away has the horrible feeling of seeing your best bottle of Barolo going glug-glug-glugging down the drain.
