Fonseca: 'Pastore out, Pellegrini in'

Paulo Fonseca confirmed Javier Pastore is out of the Brescia game with a bruised hip, but Lorenzo Pellegrini returns to the Roma midfield.

This is only the second game for Brescia under new coach Fabio Grosso and they’ve lost four on the bounce, but dropped Mario Balotelli following a training ground bust-up.

Roma dealt Mancini blow

Roma defender Gianluca Mancini will leave the Italy camp after suffering a muscle injury, the FIGC has confirmed.

Mancini was called up for Italy’s Euro 2020 qualifiers with Bosnia-Herzegovina and Armenia.

However, the FIGC announced this evening that the 23-year-old had picked up a muscle strain and would return to Rome tomorrow morning.

The former Atalanta man had been playing in central midfield for the Giallorossi, as is the extent of their injury problems.

Roma are on a roll

Injury-hit Roma produced yet another inspiring display against Napoli, and Vilizar Yakimov sees Paulo Fonseca’s team ethic as their main strength.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Roma being so united and determined for more than a game or two. Don’t get me wrong - the Giallorossi have always had natural leaders on the pitch, but very often only a few individuals were displaying the needed passion to wear the famous jersey.

Fonseca: 'Roma in control of Napoli'

Paulo Fonseca felt Roma were largely “in control of the game” as they beat Napoli 2-1 and praised Gianluca Mancini for “bringing balance.”

The Giallorossi consolidated fourth place and temporarily climbed into third thanks to Nicolò Zaniolo and a Jordan Veretout penalty.

“We played against a strong side, but we started very badly, always passing backwards,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Mancini: 'I want to be the new Nesta'

Roma defender Gianluca Mancini confesses he's working and studying to become as good as Italian greats Alessandro Nesta, Fabio Cannavaro and Marco Materazzi.

"In 20 years I hope to be a good family man and to have something beautiful in football for generations to come, just as I experienced the players I saw on TV like Nesta, Cannavaro and Materazzi. They were unique," he told Goal.com.

The centre-back made his name with Atalanta and moved to Roma over the summer, but due to an injury crisis, has been used in midfield over the last few games.

Mancini: Injuries don't affect Roma

Gianluca Mancini has insisted Roma’s crippling injury problems “don’t affect us players” and that training remains as intensive as ever.

Roma face Borussia Monchengladback in the Europa League tomorrow without eight first-team players, but Mancini is keeping upbeat about the situation.

FIGC to probe Dalbert racism

The FIGC will open an investigation into the racial abuse aimed at Fiorentina left-back Dalbert by Atalanta fans last night.

The incident was so severe that referee Daniele Orsato was forced to intervene, suspending play for three minutes so the stadium announcer could warn of a possible abandonment.

Now, the FIGC’s Giudice Sportivo panel has confirmed that the federal prosecutor will look into the extent of the abuse and its origin, as well as ask Dalbert for his opinion on events.
