Van Gaal: 'De Jong should be at Juventus'

Louis van Gaal believes Barcelona and Juventus bought the wrong Ajax players this summer. “Frenkie de Jong should’ve gone to Juventus, while Barca lack a Matthijs de Ligt type.”

The pair hit the headlines when taking Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals and earned massive transfers.

De Jong moved to Barcelona for €75m, with defender De Ligt heading to Juve for €85m.

Agent allays De Jong fears

Frenkie de Jong’s agent has allayed fears that the Ajax midfielder will miss Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg at Juventus.

That left the Dutch club sweating over the 21-year-old’s fitness, but Ali Dursun insists he was only taken off as a precaution.

“He went off as a precaution,” Dursun told De Telegraaf.
