Agent: 'Rossi wanted Viola return'

Agent Andrea Pastorello has claimed Real Salt Lake City star Giuseppe Rossi wanted a return to Fiorentina but “never had the opportunity”.

The former Italy international was released by Fiorentina in July 2017, after two stints on loan at Levante and Celta Vigo in La Liga but managed to mark his stay at the Artemio Franchi with 19 goals in 42 games for the Viola.

Rossi to leave Villarreal again

Giuseppe Rossi will have to look for another club again as Villarreal do not plan to keep him.

Rossi returned to Villarreal in October on a non-contract basis, training with his former side in the hope of earning a permanent deal.

However, AS reports he was only ever considered in the event one of their forwards moved on in January and that does not seem likely.

Therefore, the newspaper is expecting the club and player to part again soon.

Rossi: I was Barca-bound...

Giuseppe Rossi claims he was Barcelona-bound in 2011, Inter are Juventus’ biggest challengers and Rocco Commisso is ‘serious’ about Fiorentina.

Rossi scored 32 goals for Villarreal in 2010-11 and was heavily linked with Barca the following summer, but Inter new boy Alexis Sanchez - then of Udinese - ended up moving to Camp Nou instead.

“Lukaku works the attack by himself but plays for the team,” continued the former Italy striker to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Rossi: Waiting for a call

Former Fiorentina and Italy star Giuseppe Rossi has insisted that he is ready to play regular football again. “I’m waiting for a call.”

Rossi has seven goals in 30 caps for Italy and scored over 100 times for Villarreal and Fiorentina.

However, it seems no-one is prepared to take a chance on the forward’s fitness, given his five ACL injuries in the last eight years.

“I’ve felt good for a long time,” the 32-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport.
