Former Genoa and Italy striker Giuseppe Rossi has avoided a doping ban after testing positive for dorzolamide.
The banned substance was detected in a drug test Rossi took after Genoa’s match against Benevento on May 12.
However, Italy’s anti-doping court only chose to reprimand the ex-Manchester United, Villarreal and Fiorentina forward as opposed to suspend him.
Dorzolamyde can usually be found in anti-glaucoma medication, but it is also a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and can be used as a masking agent.
