Signed by global giants Manchester United at the tender age of 17, Giuseppe Rossi had the world at his feet. His three-year spell in England may have been mostly spent in the reserves, but the chance to learn under Sir Alex Ferguson was a once in a lifetime opportunity that not many professionals are blessed with, and the Parma youth product’s footballing education could not have got off to a better start.

Ballardini: 'Genoa are a team'

‘Rossi can play for Italy again’

Giuseppe Rossi’s agent believes the Genoa forward can “be important” for Italy again after his much-vaunted comeback on Wednesday.

Rossi made his first appearance in Italian football for over a year when he came on during Genoa’s 2-0 Coppa Italia defeat to Juventus, and Federico Pastorello admitted watching the injury-hit attacker again “was like he was making his debut in Serie A.”

“I’m happy, if not excited, about his return,” he told Radio 24.

Rossi given Genoa debut

Giuseppe Rossi made his debut in a Genoa jersey, marking the end of his latest injury nightmare.

Pepito signed on as a free agent, but had to wait until this week for the international transfer to come through.

With the paperwork completed, he came off the bench for the final 13 minutes of Genoa’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie against Juventus.

‘Rossi could play against Juventus’

Genoa Coach Davide Ballardini reveals Giuseppe Rossi could feature against Juventus in the Coppa Italia.

The striker signed for the Grifone earlier this month on a free transfer, having recovered from the latest in a series of knee injuries.

The Italian international has now been registered with the Lega Serie A, meaning he’s available to play, and he could feature against the Bianconeri.

“I’ll talk to the fitness coaches,” Ballardini said in his pre-match Press conference.
