Zapata: ‘Udinese disappointed’

Duvan Zapata admitted his disappointment after Udinese let a one goal lead slip to lose at home to Chievo.

The Colombian scored his first goal of the season to put the Bianconeri ahead on Sunday, but late strikes by Lucas Castro and Fabrizio Cacciatore won the day for the visitors.

“We wanted to win at home, but now we need to get ourselves back up for Wednesday [against Fiorentina],” Zapata admitted to Udinese TV.

“We were forced back in order to take space away from them, but the team had done well until the equaliser.

Six face Rossoneri exit

Six out of eight of Milan’s players with expiring contracts will leave in the summer, according to reports.

Tuttosport writes today that the Rossoneri are unlikely to renew the deals of their two on-loan forwards, Mario Balotelli and Alessio Cerci, from Liverpool and Atletico Madrid respectively.

The newspaper believes this will be re-evaluated at the end of the season based on their performances, but that the chances of both staying are slim.

Duvan Zapata out for four months

Udinese will be without Napoli-owned striker Duvan Zapata for four months after he underwent surgery today.

The Colombia international pulled up after scoring the winner in a 2-1 result over Bologna last week.

He was initially diagnosed with a high-grade hip flexor strain in his right leg, but a visit to a specialist in Barcelona confirmed tendon damage.

Milan survive split personality

The win over Udinese showed both the best and the worst of the Rossoneri, explains Sam Lewis.

After 45 minutes, Milan were sitting pretty. Prettier than they’ve sat for some time. Several seasons, in fact. Winning 3-0 away from home against Udinese, a side that had troubled them in previous seasons, Milan were riding high thanks to goals from Mario Balotelli, Giacomo Bonaventura and Cristian Zapata. Praise was given to coach Sinisia Mihajlovic over social media at the break, who appeared to finally have figured out how to collate his talent into a winning formula.

Zapata: ‘New Balotelli attitude’

Milan defender Cristian Zapata says Mario Balotelli has a new ‘serious’ attitude on his return to the club.

The striker’s loan move from Liverpool has not yet been officially confirmed, but he’s been training at Milanello for the past two days.

“He seems serious,” Zapata told Milan Channel.

“He definitely wants to make up for what happened over the past year with Liverpool. He needs to get in the game, and certainly over the past two days he’s been doing that.

Zapata: 'Juve difficult, but...'

Duvan Zapata admits Juventus are a 'difficult' opponent but doesn't rule out 'taking home points' for Udinese.

The striker joined the Zebrette on loan from Napoli this summer, and will be up against defending champions Juventus in his very first game.

“This first game is going to be difficult, but if we do things properly we can take home points,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have to take to the pitch with the right mentality, doing everything that the Coach taught us in training so that we can win.

Allan signing a real steal

The arrival of highly-rated Udinese midfielder Allan proves Napoli can still mix it with the best in the transfer market, says David Lee Wheatley.

Allan turned up at the Dimaro training camp in the early hours of Tuesday morning ahead of a medical that finally confirmed his long-awaited switch.

Napoli pair Miguel Britos and Duvan Zapata will head in the opposite direction as part of the deal, with Britos expected to move on immediately to fellow Pozzo-family owned club Watford in the English Premier League.

Zapata, meanwhile, will begin a two-year loan with the Zebrette, as he seeks regular playing time following a season largely spent coming off the bench.

‘Sassuolo or Udinese for Zapata’

Duvan Zapata’s agent confirms the Napoli striker will join Udinese or Sassuolo on loan, but ‘it doesn’t matter’ which.

The Colombian striker will join either the Zebrette or the Neroverdi on a two-year loan, depending on whether he’s included in a deal for Allan or for Sime Vrsaljko.

“Everything depends on Napoli,” Fernando Schena explained, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

“They’ll decide which club Duvan goes to. The details of the transfer are the same, a two-year loan.
