Official: Onguene moves to Genoa

RB Salzburg have officially announced that Jerome Onguene moves to Genoa on loan.

The Rossoblu have secured a deal with the Austrian side for the French defender, who will arrive on loan for the remainder of 2020-21.

The Grifone have an option to buy the 23-year-old, capped six times by Cameroon. He has played 93 times for Red Bull Salzburg and has contributed 11 goals and four assists from his centre-back position.

Onguene 'excited' at Genoa move

RB Salzburg defender Jerome Onguene is ‘very happy and excited to be here at an historic club like Genoa.’

The 23-year-old Cameroon international landed at the airport this morning and had his medical, ready to complete a loan move with option to buy at the end of the season.

“I am happy and very excited to be here at an historic club like Genoa,” Onguene told Sky Sport Italia.

Report: Onguene arrives on loan to Genoa

Genoa are on the verge of signing RB Salzburg defender Jerome Onguene on loan with an option to buy.

SportItalia journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports the Grifone have reached an agreement with the Austrian side and Oguene will soon be available to coach Davide Ballardini.

The defender arrives on loan with an option to buy from RB Salzburg.

Genoa decided to make a move for Onguene when they couldn’t come to terms over a deal for Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Onguene done deal for Genoa

Genoa have agreed terms with RB Salsburg for defender Jerome Onguene, claim Sky Sport Italia, on loan with €5m option to buy.

According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal was done today and Onguene is expected in Italy over the next 24 hours for his medical.

The 23-year-old Cameroon international will arrive on loan from RB Salzburg with an option to buy at the end of the season for €5m.

Genoa have been looking for a new centre-back throughout the January transfer window.

Agent: 'Szoboszlai wanted to be a protagonist'

Agent Matyas Esterhazy said coach Julian Nagelsmann made ‘the difference’ when Dominik Szoboszlai chose RB Leipzig over Milan.

The former RB Salzburg attacker signed with RB Leipzig this month and his agent Esterhazy hinted he would be open to deal with Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara in the future.

The 20-year-old has been linked with the Rossoneri in recent months but eventually moved to the German side this winter.

Official: Szoboszlai moves to Leipzig

Former Milan target Dominik Szoboszlai has officially moved from RB Salzburg to RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga side have announced the signing of the midfielder, who had been linked with the Rossoneri when they were about to hire Ralf Rangnick as their new coach a few months ago.

The Hungarian 20-year-old has contributed eight goals and 10 assists for Salzburg in 2020-21 and had a reported release clause of €25m in his contract.

Leipzig introduced the new player on social media today.

Arsenal challenge Milan for Szoboszlai

Milan face strong competition from Arsenal for RB Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, with reports the €24m release clause could be paid in instalments.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal are in negotiations to activate the release clause in January, but for only an initial sum of circa €8m.

The other two instalments would then be paid over a three-year period.

This kind of agreement would also be of interest to Milan, who have long been pursuing the Hungary international.

Rossi: 'Szoboszlai was close to Milan'

Hungary coach Marco Rossi confirms RB Salzburg talent Dominik Szoboszlai ‘was very close to Milan’ when Ralf Rangnick looked set to take over.

The 20-year-old scored the spectacular play-offs winner that allowed Hungary to qualify for the European Championship and is widely expected to move on in January or at most next summer.

“He has great vision of the game, runs hard, but needs to improve in the defensive transitions and overall in his defending,” Rossi told Radio Punto Nuovo.

Reports are growing that Milan will intensify their long-standing interest in Hungary international and RB Salzburg talent Dominik Szoboszlai.
