Juve: Pogba in, Dybala & Costa out?

Juventus will reportedly have to sacrifice Douglas Costa for Paul Pogba, while Inter could target Paulo Dybala if Mauro Icardi leaves.

According to Tuttosport, Manchester United responded to Juve’s enquiry for Pogba by demanding Costa in exchange.

The newspaper explains the Bianconeri ‘haven’t stopped thinking about’ the Frenchman since his return to Old Trafford in 2016, while United have ‘fallen in love’ with the winger and believe he could be ‘lethal’ in the Premier League.

‘Juventus strong without CR7’

Atalanta captain Papu Gomez doesn’t believe Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence will have a big impact against Juventus - “they have such a deep squad”.

The Portuguese superstar is being rested for today’s trip to Bergamo, with Douglas Costa replacing him in the starting XI.

“Douglas Costa will play instead, he’s fast and strong and has different characteristics,” Gomez told Sky ahead of the match.

Report: United bid €60m for Costa

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a €60m bid for Douglas Costa, but the winger does not want to leave Juventus.

According to AS, United are ready to bring in Costa next month and Juve could be prepared to sacrifice the Brazilian for Paul Pogba.

However, Calciomercato.com claims the 28-year-old ‘personally’ told his camp that he did not want to leave Turin.

The website adds the Bianconeri consider him to be a ‘crucial’ option in games, ‘especially in the Champions League’.

Juventus leave out Costa, Cuadrado

Juventus are expected to leave out Juan Cuadrado and Douglas Costa for tonight’s Champions League game with Valencia.

In his Press conference yesterday, Coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed he’d play four at the back, three in midfield and then “we’ll see” up-front.

According to TuttoJuve, Allegri’s 4-3-3 will feature Mario Mandzukic through the middle, supported by Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo.

That will see the Bianconeri play with less direct width, as both CR7 and La Joya like to come inside.

Max Allegri praised Douglas Costa and Rodrigo Bentancur after Juventus beat SPAL, but “we need to think ahead to the next move” like Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 2-0 result was decided by Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandzukic.

“It wasn’t easy, as we had only 20 points in the last 10 games after a break for international duty,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Allan makes Brazil debut

Napoli midfielder Allan made his debut for Brazil in this evening’s 1-0 friendly victory over Uruguay, as Diego Laxalt gave away a penalty.

Although he had five caps for his country at Under-20 level, the 27-year-old had not previously featured for the Seleçao.

He had been approached by Italy to switch his allegiance, but this alerted Tite to the urgency of the situation and he was called up.

The Juventus winger was given a four game ban for the incident in September, and wasn’t called for his national team.

While the former Bayern Munich man was injured, Coach Tite confirmed that he wouldn’t have called him anyway due to the incident with Di Francesco.

Chiellini back in Juventus training

Giorgio Chiellini and Mario Mandzukic returned to Juventus training ahead of the Manchester United game, but Blaise Matuidi worked separately.

The Bianconeri will secure a place in the Last 16 of the Champions League if they avoid defeat on Wednesday, while a win would see them top the group with two games to spare.

Chiellini missed the weekend win over Cagliari with an injury, but he returned to group training today.

Mandzukic missed yesterday’s session after a recurrence of an ankle problem, but he also trained with the rest of the squad.

Allegri: 'Just not good enough'

Max Allegri told off Juventus after a 3-1 victory over Cagliari and gave injury updates ahead of Manchester United. “This just isn’t good enough.”

Although Paulo Dybala scored after 44 seconds and Juan Cuadrado completed a late counter-attack, the 3-1 result did not accurately reflect how many problems the Sardinians created in Turin.
