‘Inter wrong to keep Cancelo’

Inter legend Beppe Bergomi believes his former club would be making a mistake in buying Joao Cancelo outright for €35m.

Cancelo has grown into Inter’s right-back berth after an injury-hit start to his career at San Siro, but Bergomi – an ex-Nerazzurri defender himself – urged his side to focus on other players and not spend so much on the Valencia loanee.

“Cancelo? I wouldn’t exercise the option to buy him,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Double negotiation for Cancelo?

Inter are reportedly looking to lower the fee for Joao Cancelo, but they could have to offer him a wage rise.

The full-back is on loan from Valencia, with an option to make the deal permanent for €35m at the end of the season.

The Portuguese international has been in fine form so far this season, and scored his first goal for the Nerazzurri last night.

As a result, the club are keen to keep him but are looking to lower the fee they’ll have to pay to Valencia.

‘Inter can’t change Kondogbia terms’

Lazio won’t redeem Nani

Lazio are not expected to take up their option to sign Nani outright from Valencia, barring a spectacular turnaround in form.

The Portuguese winger arrived to much fanfare in the summer, on a straight loan with an €8m option to buy.

However, the 31-year-old has managed just two Serie A starts all season, contributing three goals and two assists in all competitions.

As a result, Gazzetta dello Sport reports, the Aquile have decided not to take up their option on Nani, barring a dramatic improvement in form over the final part of the season.
